have been driving for 4 months as full time cabby, feel like giving up

i have been driving as a full time cabby for 4 months. in the begining, i will drive 6 days a week, i start from 6 am to 10.30am. again from 12pm to 10pm. after deducting all expenses, i only make 40 to 60. now with relirf driver even worse, i only make 10 to 30 dollars. i am really on the edge of giving up. bearing in mind, have to put up with those selfish, arrogant proud cabbies, to them it seems like i am their foe. any bros out there, could be kind enough to advise me, is it i have a problem, or this is the trend now. thanking all bros in advance

Bro,

Base on your first time slots - it is obvious there is something amiss with your working model...you are running a 14 hour shift...the numbers do not add up

Even if you are working with a relief....you takings should be more than what you have mentioned.

Regarding our fellow cabbies out there....care to share with us your encounters to warrant them as 'foes '

well bro, i think i would be just short and sharp. while driving around housing estate, i was in front, another cabby from behind me can just speed up overtake infront of u just to pick up the pax. sometimes in taxi stand, the front taxi drives off, the front taxi just could not bother to move in front to let others in to the queue, i am refering to the t s at funan centre. there are just some of the things.

Hi bone,
I felt just like you when I started driving early this year. Then I slowly learnt where to go at what time and when to stop for my rest ..it all takes time. Of course there are some bad cabbies out there e cannot deny it but they are slowly being phased out by the better educated and more pro-active present day cabbies. Most important of all is that you MUST enjoy driving your cab and meet interesting passengers.

Bro funnybone,

Don't take to heart... it took me nearly 6 months to get the momentum going... i was like taking being a relief driver, take home only 30-40.

There alot of ways to get it going... to get our business going, we need to plan our strategy.

It's rather inappropriate to discuss this online, very long story to tell, so maybe we could meetup and you will be surprise at the many stories you will hear from our senior bros :)

Cheer up... it ain't that bad driving a taxi, at least you have no one to report to except yourself. As for arrogant cabbies, this are just parts and parcel of our daily affair we face everyday.

I am new born driver, trust can't make any comment. Just want to voice out almost all empty cab drivers are so called "selfish", nobody care who is infront of him bcos his objective is to grasp passenger. When I met such circumstance I just smile and wish him good luck and I believe my preferred target is not far away along the road.

I think daily collection is strictly related to effective planning, i.e. timing vs location and if this is well arranged then collection won't be disappointed. 0600-0900 estates got plenty passengers desperate hunting for cab going to workplace; 2100-2300 got plenty in city try to avoid midnight surcharge. Booking is a big bonus too, 5x2.5 the rental is reduced by $10.

Bro, i won't comment much here except that there's something wrong with
your driving plans/strategy. Like what bro reliefdriver said, join us for a
kopi meet-up and we will try to help you overcome your problems.
Sometimes we have short kopi-break meets during the day/night, you
can also join in. PM your contact number to bro bluenuts and he will
inform you whenever there's a meet for kopi session.
Good luck and drive safe.

If drive taxi cannot earn a living, then why is there 24,000 taxi in this tiny island?
You want pte property, hard.
You want just a roof over your head when you sleep and 3 meals on the table, anytime.
Look up bro, you may be the light for others tomorrow.

Well spoken...

Your effort/hour ( must be productive ) = $$$$$$ ( take home income )

Like I always said.... you want to paid professional fees - be a professional in your field.

I'm just a new bird can't give good advise but just like to share my thought before
you jump boat. Do assess what is working and what is not. Are u overkill by the
high rental that eat up the profit?

As for time management and strategy u may join the senior for kopi cum enrichment course. Remember a winner never quits and a quitter never wins. Just accept the obstacles as a temporary defect. The current strategy plan is definitely not working right, don't be despair, formulate another plan with guru help and in no time your goal will be in sight.

The difference between temporary failure depends upon our mental attitude toward it. Temporary failure will never becomes failure unless we acknowledge it to be so. Do ride over the rough tide and strive for the best.

I'm only driving weekends and the rewards are far more than yours...me only one month old driver. To me the best golden time is friday night onwards, u can try out sat and sunday but must put in 16 hrs..me no problem bcos current fit like a bull and driving like a commando driver. U can try and u will see the different.
