the faster one can hold a VDL with your name n pic on it is 1.5 mths.
if you cant get a taxi from CDG, there are many more taxi coy for you to choose for.
beside, if you really 1 2 stick with CDG, you can be a relief for one. wink

dont worry too much...biggrin

I still don't understand why everyone wants to become a cabbies as a backup plan or failsafe? If ones becomes a cabbies just to tie over a lousy period or waiting for an employment, than how can taxi business standards be improved?

I feel that cabbies should be regarded as a profession and been a cabbies hold lots of responsibilities. It is not as simple as you think it is...

Bro stkee, I believe there are lots of cabbies who provide good standard of service are part-time cabbies.
To a certain extent, treating taxi driving as a stop-gap measure during bad times kinda degrade the profession but as you know, how many full-time cabbie sucks at their job?
Part-time or temp cabbie may turn full-time one day, one never know what will happen tmr.
By giving pointers to them will give them an idea what are the do's and don't, it will in return help the industries.
Last but not least, I think with more ppl holding a valid TVL will decrease the chance of FT driving our taxis.
Given a choice of FT driving our taxi full-time or local driving part-time, which do you prefer?
Which one cause more damage to our taxi industry?
I think the answer is clear.

Agreed with Bro Bluenuts.

B4 the recession there are many unhired taxis.
Many cabbies are worried that govt will allows FT in.
I would say Govt is doing the right thing by bailing the taxi co. out instead of allowing FT as taxi drivers.
The govt key word is "saving jobs" not "creating jobs".
This recession they know that taxi driving are the very few trade that can create jobs for the unemployed. Don't forget for pink NRIC holder only.
I believe Taxi driving will be for local... at least for this generation.

I do know many taxi drivers are suffering (me too), like many of our fellow citizens.
Have an open mind instead of complaining w/o solution offer.

Although they had made many mistakes. This they did right. I applaud them.

Better if they can give us some form of reward after this recession.
Walau broad day light still can dream. BUT ..Who know.. like lift upgrading in the two opp ward.
Wait long long maybe!!!!!

I got my cab within a week getting my vl
Actually I could have taken the first day of application
But had to go thru the in house course first

I took my tdvl with LTA then register with cdg
Surprised it took so fast as I heard it takes at least one to two months
But guessed I'm lucky ... Or not :p

In regards to the back up plan

Some also hold a property or insurance license as part time or back up plan

So are those trades degraded? If not, why is taxi being degraded?

It's another self employed trade
Just that how we going to carry ourselves

In other countries cabbies wear jackets and ties like our lawyers do :p

lol

If you are taking the course under CDG scheme, yes you are given a vehicle in very short time. If not, it may takes up to 2~3 months before you can get any. It's all about luck anyway, unless you know someone inside there. :p
