RE: acekang's blog

15 Nov 09 2315h

Went to airport T3 to queue, queue is moving but I was at the back of the 2nd lane. Upon reaching the "Traffic Light" to signal for TUs to move, the queue stopped, and I was infront of the traffic light, directly facing the control room of that Taxi Coordinator that controls the "Traffic Light". After few mins later, one of the Taxi Coordinator walked towards the taxi queue. She came to my taxi and talked to me.....

Taxi Coordinator : Dont on your big headlights, while queueing.

I apologised and switch off the headlights. It is till today then I realised we have to switch off headlights when queueing.....

Bro, when u join the taxi Q at any of the airport terminals, didn't u notice that the
other taxis all have their headlights switch-off?
If u did notice it, why didn't it occur to u to follow suit?
Well, at least now u know oredi.

Well, I usually turn off the headlight when I'm approaching taxi stand.
Turn it ON again after picking up pax.

TU start the thread.. we support!!

Any member have been to 300 Pasir Panjang Road the Norwegian's Seaman Mission? Is at the top of a hill.

Once pickup pax elsewhere was told to proceed there to pickup his friend. While waiting the person in charge ask me to park at the roadside parking lot. He said one car is coming up.
Parallel parking on a very steep slope!
Those who want to test their driving skill can try!
Those who had been there will know how steep is the hill is.

Last Sunday night sent a pax to 294 Pasir Panjang not that bad.

not only headlights, i think the TU also need to refrain from stepping on the
brake and let the farking bright brake's light glaring at the poor driver behind.
especially the merz and wish taxis, the red lights are very irritating.

plz put to P mode or pull up the handbrake unless if the Q is moving. smile

kam sia,

17 Nov 09 2330h, after dropping a pax near Pasir Drive 3, decided to go Airport to queue.
Saw the taxi information, T1 has 8 flights and only 84 Taxis, so went to join T1 queue. To my surprise, the queue starts near the T3 entrance, however the queue is moving fast and soon after I can see Crowne Plaza Hotel.

There are several taxis wanting to join the queue midway at the turning but they did not know the end of the queue was very far away, some attempted to cut queue but are not given way, and they drove past.

Got past the Gantry and saw the queue split into 2 queues. However the left queue isnt moving at all. I was on the right queue and it was still moving. After moving past the first bend, the time is 2350h, suddenly the taxi infront of me stopped. And other Taxis are overtaking me from my left as it become a single lane queue after that bend. I was puzzled and went infront and asked the TU. Is this the correct queue, why arent u moving? The TU
BARKED AT ME and says, u want go u go, DONT ASK ME!

I was confused and did not know what to do, I called Richard, and he told me these TU are waiting for Midnite surcharge and I could have overtake them if i dont care for Midnite s/c. Meantime, 2 airport police came and blow whistle and many taxis are overtaking me on my left. Suddenly the taxi infront of me moved, looks like the whistle from the airport police had given him some pressure.

I got my pax @ 2355h, while moving off, along the expressway-ECP-city , I observed several taxis moving at very safe speed at lane 2-4. I was in Lane 1 overtaking over 5 taxis that were infront of me.

I was wondering why there are so little taxi inside the gantry area when the end of the queue is almost near the T3 entrance, so it was a single queue with about 20 taxis waiting for midnite s/c.

Lesson learnt - possible png near midnite.

Well, for me I'll be very happy to pickup just b4 midnight.
Key in AP surcharge, after that midnight surcharge kick in.
Best of both world!

Just like in CBD b4 midnight, except sunday n public hoildays.
Difference cabbies, difference formula.

Now you know why you can overtake 5 taxis along expressway ?

18 Nov 09 2250h, after dropping pax around bt batok area, i was heading towards city. Upon reaching Tanglin road towards orchard road, i got flagged by 2 ladies. I was so close to enter the CBD area to get extra $3 s/c....somehow i stopped and they got in. 1 of the lady say, send me to Woodlands and the other lady to a nearby taxi stand.

I drove off and approaching Orchard Tower. The lady saw over 20 empty taxis along the road and told me to drop her. And her friend then told me to go Buangkok Crescent. While travelling along CTE-AMK, the 2 ladies talked over the phone. And "Woodlands lady" was complaining she couldnt get any Taxi!!!!

I recalled some of the days when i got pax near Orchard tower, the pax would politely asked if my taxi would take him, I was still puzzled why do pax asked this.....when they just have to hop in and tell their destination....so there is a hidden agenda....

I suppose these TUs are adopting some special strategy, but somehow I feel it is not right. But it is their own taxi and they are running their own business. I supposed it is the rule of the game, just lika pax siam peak hours, then TU can siam and wait till midnite or wait for calls.....It is a harsh fact to accept but that's life....

Recently around 3am along beach road, I saw a coach bus stopped and many taxis jammed up the entire road, and the busdropped alot of pax and they took the taxi.

Flowers blossomed and the petals fall out, and the bees went to collect them.
