19 Nov 0230h I was queueing in the dark area of Sultan Plaza(3-4 Taxi q).
Finally it was my turn and a Mama-san and a odd-job guy took my taxi.
Told to go Golden Mile Tower, then Bedok North St 1.....along the way, the Mama-san was
talking on the phone, her voice was as loud as THUNDER, at least 80 decibels. I was shocked,puzzled,irritated. Soon after she got off , opposite Golden Mile Tower. I was so glad she left.

Then I asked the guy and found out that she is a Mama-san of the Karoke Lounge. He told me her voice is normal to her, as she had to talk in loud environment, so her voice had to be louder than the background sounds. She had offended alot of customers for her LOUD voice.
The guy told me there was another occasion that she directed the taxi uncle the directions with her LOUD voice and the taxi uncle was very angry that she keep "Shouting"...haha

I think we should bring ear plugs so if next time, if we happened to get the Mama-san in our taxi, we can use it to reduce the torture!!!

She may be hard of hearing thus speakly loudly and she doesn't know other may be offended just like me. Many people often misunderstood me when i meant no harm.cry

Sat 21 Nov 2009 2359h

Was queueing at T3 and pax got in....Pressed meter and no midnite surcharge!!!!
Press K2 once and press K3....surcharge $3.....My heart sank...I was thinking it was $5 for Fri-Sun 5pm-12mn. Why has it become $3......could it be it was already over midnite so the surcharge became $3.....I kept wondering why.....suddenly it came upon me that I could have pressed the wrong surcharge....

Press K2 and check for the surcharge......
To my surprise, the Chang5 was still available even though it was already past midnite. Amended it the Chang5 , $5 surcharge !!! Woot! Shiok!

Lesson Learnt : Airport Surcharge depends on the time when the meter is on.

I experienced sometimes after 00:00 city surcharge still available.

Not all taxi meter clock are the same, plus or minus 1 min is possible.
For the same reason parking warden will not issue summon for 10 mins difference or less to avoid argument. i.e displaying a 50 cents coupon I can park for 50 mins outside CDB.

Was told, few years back some taxi driver adjust the clock to their advantage. Now is history.

My wife is opening a online shop that sells mainly baby stuffs, kids' apparel and other stuffs. Being a understanding housewife, she had always hoped to go out to work to relieve the burden of her husband. But was tied down to looking after my mother and our son and a daughter due feb 2013.

She is very hardworking and positive. Despite her little knowledge in english, she managed to put up various items.
The items displayed in the shop are of good quality, and self-picked all by herself.

Bro ace. Have read your whole blog and all i can say that it is so interesting. I'm a newbie which will start driving OTR on 20th December and will bear in mind everything that have been mentioned in your blog. It's been awhile since you updated in this forum. Good blog, ace. That part on TUs waiting for midnight, fighting for customers, etc, really sucks. Why these people have this scarcity or poor mentality? Just give off your best and put customers first, the rest will follow. The more you try to squeeze, the more "bad luck" you will get because you are telling the universe your are short of money and that's what will always happen to you - lack of money.

So the right thing is to be generous and give your best, only then can you get the best :)
