Tips for TDVL new trainees

Just got my TDVL this months and after spending some times unable to find a better source to assist my preparation for the TDVL examination, I put in some

timesand effort editing questions & answers for all TDVL 4 modules into a learning web for anyone preparing to take the TDVL examination. For those who is

interested youcan go to www.quizlet.com , key in TDVL in the search column. You may find some old version done by some others TDVL candidates, for the

latestversion look at those under Romaxxi edited on August 2013. For module 1 & 2 my set is more of a revision from the course and more complicated then

the actualquestion given inthe TDVL module 1 & 2 examination. Anyone whom practice well in the quizlet should have no problem to pass the two modules.

As for module3, actual handpractice on flipping and searching for the Landmark Location, Street name and Taxi location code is very important, the faster you

can find thelocation the higherchances of passing the module 3 examination. My advise is practice the index for the content page (also edited in the quizlet)

remember theseindex shall savemore times in searching for the answers. For module 4 just memorize by hard the forty routes given in the training course,

actual question are very tricky andidentical to the 40 routes, you need to pick the different between the 3 multiple choice answers. Just remember hard on

all 40routes and you would notbe distractedby the wrong answer, for this module you shall have more then enough time to complete and recheck your

answers.(A personal advise take aneffort to recheckall answer by going through the street directory books to confirm your answer) most of them was caught

bysurprise when they realised thatthey fail by onlyone totwo question. When you have practice learning enough and want to test yourself in the quizlet by :

1. Moving the mouse and Click theTest in the column shown in the blue box.

2. When the test page appear don't do the test yet instead go to the right hand column

3. Chosemultiple choice in thequestion types column.

4. Chose Term in the Start with column

3. On the bottom of the right column the under question limit show 20 means 20 questions , if you want to try more question you may change the numbers.

4. After all the above, double click the word shown reconfigure and the test questions will appear as per your setup.

5 After you finish answering all the questions, double click the word CheckAnswerat the bottom, you shall get the result as well as the correct answer.

6. To start another test practice , go to the top of the right column and double click Regenerate Test ,You shall get another set of new questions.

Hey guys, there is no short cut to passing the exams. You need to study, especially the 40 routes. The questions can be very tricky. If you memorise the 40 routes well, you will know the sequence of the roads. I can tell you this cos I passed all 4 papers at one sitting and there were only 4 people out of 40 who passed all four papers :)

All the best and hope to see you on the road soon!

Niteowl,

Ya lor..For 40 routes, you need to memorise the road sequence. No short cut. If you drive often, it will be easier cos when I memorise, I kinda picture the routes in my mind. Using a computer, I typed out all the 40 routes start and destination locations (E.g. Changi Airport -start, Four seasons hotel -end) After memorising, I filled out the route sequence for each of the route. I start with memorising the first 10 routes. After that, the next 10 but repeat the first 10 also and so on.

For module 3, locate destination, you need to know the index page well. E.g. for hotels, go to page 81 (Hotel 81 mah, haha). I also try to read through the street directory and familiarise myself with the buildings names., schools etc. Tanglin Secondary school is not in Tanglin, you know...learn to flip through the pages well, but don't panic.

I took my test in mid Jun this year and got my TDVL in end Jun. Passed all 4 modules in one sitting. Scored 50/50 for Module 3 and 29/30 for Module 4. You can do it too....:))

Now a weekend relief for SMRT. Enjoying every minute of it..Good Luck..

My younger brother had sat the TDVL tests last month and also learn through using the quizlet that i recommended.

He said that the TDVL tests were so much difficult than the quizlet. Quizlet 's answers are quite direct, whereas the tests's answers are very close and very tricky. Heard that there were many failures.

However, I think it is still relevant and can use it for practice.
