How fuel efficient is your taxi?

How fuel efficient is your taxi? We are happy if you can support our research by writing the fuel efficiency of your taxi for the following types of taxis:

- Hyundai i40 (diesel): km per litre of diesel

- Toyota Wish (CNG): km per kg of CNG

- Toyota Prius (hybrid petrol-electric): km per litre of petrol

If you drive a Hyundai Sonata (diesel), feel free to reply as well. If you don't know the fuel efficiency of your taxi, think about how much you spend per day, how many km you drive per day and how much you pay per litre of diesel, per kg of CNG or per litre of petrol.

For your information: we are doing reserach on electric taxis in Singapore. For more information, visit the following websites: www.eva-taxi.sg, www.tum-create.edu.sg.

I have not tried all but the figures should be around there.

- Hyundai i40 (diesel): 12 km per litre of diesel

- Toyota Wish (CNG): 13 km per kg of CNG

- Toyota Prius (hybrid petrol-electric):17 km per litre or petrol

- Hyundai Sonata (diesel): 10 km per litre of diesel

Congestion, common nowadays esp peak hour and waiting/queuing time also contribute to poor fuel efficiency. The difference can be quite significant.

Stevewish, thank you for the quick response. It helps a lot. I have 2 questions regarding your response:

- Saying that you have not tried all taxis: which taxis have you tried, and which not?

- Saying that the difference (of fuel efficiency) can be quite significant: how significant? Can you provide a range for each of the efficiency values you mentioned?

Thanks!

it works out to be $1.2 per liter. you have a good hirer. considering that you can take extra trip and save your time to the pump.
