Drive safe...everything else will fall into place naturally..if you make a mistake, apologise and say sorry. Leave your ego at home. Good luck and Huat arh!

i understand how you feel man! Am a newbie myself, just started driving exactly a week ago. Honestly, when I first drove my taxi from the workshop, there was a passenger flagging but i was so afraid and anxious that I didnt stop! lol..then slowly relaxed and think positive and of my family and took my first pax..from that point, everything fell in place..am truly enjoying it and looking forward to seating in the drivers seat of my taxi eveyday!

all the best to u and to us! hehe

Hey Shiokee,

Think about this...Many pax have bad experiences with a lot of taxi drivers out there. A lot of drivers

1. don't acknowledge when pax mention their destinations

2. are rude, too talkative and choosy about pax

3. argue back and never ever say sorry

4. are defensive when told that they have taken a longer route

5. never say thank you or wish pax a nice day at the end of the trip

6. blame the pax for their mistakes and

7. challenge the pax to complain against them.

Thus, the expectations of the service level of taxi drivers are not high.

As long as you don't do any of these, you should be fine. Drive safe.

Dear friends,
Need some advise. I am new relief driver.most likely maiden drive is this Saturday 26th July.
I am only driving Sat and Sun, 6am to 6pm both days.
I would like some guide.. Assuming continue driving 9 hours out of the 12 hours per day, approx how many km can be covered?
Am asking this because i do not need to top up at end of shift, only need to pay fuel used to hirer at 0.125 per/km. so i would like to know approx how much i have to pay for fuel on top of the rental $50.00 per day. Also, any recommendations where to get pax on saturdays and sundays? For a start hope i can at least cover the cost. Any guidance all experienced friends here can provide me will be very much appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi chanks, I just started also. Did my first weekend (like you sat & sun) last week. Sat - 270km, Sun - 280km.

I started around my estate and ply near the pte condo area. You can also start from your estate, there will be lots of booking and street hails from 7am onwards. On my first day, I though I could not cover cost at first but later I made about $100 nett. 2nd day, slightly better. Still lots to learn. Need to cut cost by not ply aimlessly and must know where are the taxi stands, stops, etc so as to connect more pax.

Good luck!

for sonata, my agreement with hirer is usually 1 liter per 10 KM. i think its quite a norm.
for 300 km, i pump 30L + 1 liter more for bonus. :)

Thanks you TU! My hirer charge me 0.125 per Km... So if i do 250Km... I have to pay him 31.25 for fuel.
Is this acceptable for a Hyundai Sonata? Thanks.

Congrats on your virgin OTR. I started mine last week clocking about 300+ km from 0930 to 1800hrs.

As a newbie, just let pax know is your first day and many are willingly to give way like lead the way, give u some small change for keeps and chit chat with you.

Dun target to make as much as possible let luck follow you and of cos press OP button, i kenna once too reach liao den know OP not press hehehe but pax very kind cos he going Geylandso give me 10 bucks to cover the distance which later i know is sufficient (not cheated).

So all the best Chanks!
