Hi bro I was told by my buddy that LTA had put a new Taxi stops outside Hitachi Tower.I think only pax can put pressure on LTA,whatever we cab drivers say or complain is no use.
we cabbies can talk until saliva dry oso useless. nobody really listens. It's more effective only when commuters, businesses, hotels started to make noise.
Why?? It's becoz we cabbies are like loose sands, no union, no asso, no society of any sort that can truly represent us and speak with ONE voice. Don't even mention those TOAs, they only represent the taxi coys n always think of taxi coys' interests only.
to add further...imagine advisor to taxi asso is a MP...so where do you think the taxi asso will stand? taxi drivers or their own axs/coys...period
on one hand they agree & said LTA's ruling on TS is good...but when everyone complain...they revert their stand to please taxi drivers...now after tweaked...they again said its good for LTA to make adjustments
we just hope we can form an asso of our own...irrespective which coy you are in

Though public voice are sound to their ears but we cabbies should not juz sit back and let it be. I spoke to many cabbies who have been driving many years and they have the same mentality, "no point in highlighting our problems, nobody care and no one listen." It's sadden me, i still have years to go as a cabbie, am i suppose to juz follow and try to make the best out of it day after day? Up till now, i'm still trying to figure out wat can i do. I believe, if we try hard enuf, our voice will not fall on deaf ears.

do hold on to your principle that cabbies will one day have their say in policies affecting taxi professsion
those cabbies whom you spoke to have already resigned in their mentality that nothing they say or do have any impact to their trade...why...bcos they were not properly represented & not well educated so now have become a punching bag to both the coy & authority
we now need to create a new-age of taxi drivers...more educated (i dun mean uni degree hor), more foresight, more outspoken etc etc
slowly very very slowly we need to plant a seed of new-age cabbies to grow into something big to ensure your career as taxi driver is as good & proud as any working class...then people dun have the misconception that taxi drivers are the left over from the main stream
we need to distinguish cabbies of new-age from the rest of loose sands...e.g. i saw a cabby who placed a toilet paper roll on the dashboard & a dirty towel...is he protraying all cabbies are like that or he does'nt belong to the new-age cabbies
if our bros here dun distinguise your professionalism then you will be like those you spoke to...
so sorie i may step on many shoes...humble apologies hor
