A LOADED cement mixer hit a bus and overturned along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) near Alexandra Hospital at 6.30am on Tuesday, causing a morning rush-hour traffic snarl tailing back all the way to Jurong Town Hall Road.

The driver of the mixer, Mr V. Selvarajan, 39, an Indian national, was slightly injured. He suffered a cut on his hand and bruised his head.

The concrete mix in the cement drum spilled onto the road when the vehicle landed on its sides. Workers cleared the spillage by about 9.30am.

Mr Selvarajan, who works for Woodlands Transport Service, said he was heading towards the Marina Bay Integrated Resorts building site to deliver the cement load when the accident happened.

'The bus in front of me suddenly stopped and my cement mixer hit it because it was too late for me to stop,' he told The Straits Times.

'The next moment, my vehicle toppled over to its side but I managed to move to the left side.'

Dear Peasants,
We the TP authorities know that accidents usually are caused by Big vehicles speeding, reckless driving, dangeorus overtaking, tail gating, etc, etc.
However should an accident occur it is not our fault.
The accident is not caused by us.
Just like "the Limp" who escaped from detention, no higher authority is to be blamed, because no Authority asked him to escape. He escaped on his own fee will therefore we the Higher up Auhtorities cannot be blamed.
Let there be more accidents on the roads.
Until an accident kill our love ones, our children or some Higher up Authorities then we will shake bricks and take action.
Till then it's every man for himself!.
Carnage on the roads is not our TP Business. We are only good at issuing parking tickets! Escorting VVIPs!
"More Good Years!"

My comments are where are the traffic police ? Are they hiding in their air-con room ?

Traffic police should come out with a regulation to disallow heavy vehicles from taking the highway during peak hours. This will also reduce the heavy conjestion. In addition, car/motocycles from Malaysia should also be restricted from using the highways during peak hours.

Take a look when all bros are driving and see if any of those heavy vehicles put on the seat belts that were provided. Probably 9/10 don't because they belief their vehicles are big and see no need to belt up. Thing is they tend to forget that they are speeding all the time as they are paid by trips as basic salary is low.furiousBe prepared toseeheavy vehicle drivers change vocation to becometaxi drivers.biggrin
