Such bad luck, says a STOMPer, of his mother who rarely takes taxis, but encountered an extremely rude driver yesterday afternoon (July 2) when fetching his niece's and neighbour's children back from school.
According to Lester, the trans cabbie yelled at his mother in Hokkien when she instructed him to take a turn, asking why had she not made her request earlier.
Later, the elderly driver, in his 60s, even silenced the children rudely when they were chatting and hurled insults at his mother when she defended them.
Angered at the appalling treatment they received , Lester wrote in to us:
"At around 3pm, my mum went to pick up my niece and neighbor's kid from the kindergarten at Changi Road near Lor 102.
"Due to the hot weather, she decided to take a taxi back to Eunos. She managed to flag down a red Trans taxi.
"After boarding the taxi, my mum instructed the driver to turn into Jln Turi which is the nearest way back. She was shocked when the driver shouted at her in hokkien " don't say earlier".
"My mum kept quiet and attended to the kids. The kids were discussing as what time they will meet after dinner to play in the playground. The driver shouted Hokkien " Mai Kao Pei Kao Bu Lah".
"The 2 kids became silent in fear. My mother, out of protection, told the driver kids talk is like that. Not that they are jumping or playing in the cab. The driver replied rudely in Hokkien again "Kao Peh Lah, Don't know how to teach, ask others to teach".
"She then told the driver that he is the one that needs to be taught manners. Due to the distance is rather short, after this remark, my mum reached Eunos.
"After paying and alighting from the taxi, the driver, instead of driving off, slowly reversed the vehicle in a very intimidating manner.
"My mum had to pull the kids behind her and this time shouted at the driver in hokkien too " Want to bang, bang me! Don't harm the kids". After which the driver drove off after shouting something which my mum cannot comprehend.
"My mum can't read English. She can only tell me me the color of the taxi is RED, which I concluded high chance it's a Trans taxi and the number is 7818 but she cannot make out the alphabet. The driver is in his 60s with grayish white hair.
"I cannot understand why this old man has to bully a housewife with two six-year-olds.
"I am very angry with this. Usually, my mum send and pick up the kids in my brother's car because he don't drive to work. My brother is off today and he used the car. Such bad luck."
So he the writer does not how to discipline the children and he leave the responsible to his poor mother to discipline them.
So why the hell he let his old mum to do this errand . He can always engage someone else to do this . No need to show his anger in public. Like what he say its all bad luck to meet this driver. Kudos to the old driver.
Transcab Taxi company is the best taxi company ! I heard from other taxi drivers !
They protect Transcab drivers's interest. That is what taxi company should do ! And not defending passenger !
Sometimes children behaves like monkeys ! And parents give them a mouthful or worst DO nothing ! This should be done way back when the kid is 4. While their children poke and puck the back seat damaging the back seat ! They will smear their hand prints over all the back window ! It breaks your heart ! That people pays for the meter but have no utter respect for the trade and considerations that the driver has to ply as much without stopping to clean up your mess and the sake of other passengers!
Passengers pay the service from point A to point B ! Not inclusive of clean taxis ! It's time the revelent authorities implement a service fee that goes to drivers.
Those apes you know whom I mean will join the hotel and good shopping centre queues ! They know taxis avoids certain areas at all costs ! Citizens and Taxi companies do not listen to passengers thats taxis are not enough at certain peak time of the day ! It just passengers love to take taxis and dump them far out of the city !Then don't complain that there are no taxis if taxi drivers cannot choose !
Maybe make it mandatory for passengers to hold placards and a piece of chalk stating their destination and amount they willing to bid for taxis to stop!
It's just bad productivity to deal with difficult passengers day in and day out !
