Rachel shares with us a frustrating encounter with an incompetent relief female taxi driver who not only was poor with directions, but acted unprofessionally. Is she qualified to drive a cab, the STOMPer wonders. And more importantly, can anyone just take over a cab driver's shift if he is unable to work?
Apparently, the female driver was standing in as a relief driver but didn't display her ID. The incident happened yesterday morning (July 2) at 9:50am when the STOMPer and her boyfriend called for a cab.
She said:
" While waiting for the cab to arrive, the cab driver actually called my boyfriend's number and check with us where is our location. I thought since they accepted the job, they should know the way?
"Surprisingly, when the cab arrives, it was a female driver while the driver's ID displayed on the windscreen was a male.
"So I'm wondering if she is a relief driver, and if so, why isn't she displaying her ID?
"We then informed her that we are going to two destinations, first to Plaza Singapura then Market Street.
"When we got onto CTE, there was a massive jam, and this female driver start opening her bags of foods (which i think is cookies, kuay or some fried food) and start eating.
"During the journey, she also make frequent grumbling noises and "tsk" to show her displeasure about being stuck in the jam.
"So when we finally got past the congested area, she just sped past the Orchard Road exit. I was shocked and immediately pointed out to her that she was suppose to exit there.
"She then claim that we told her Market Street, and we replied to her that we said: "Plaza Singapura then Market Street." She apologize and told us that she will exit at Havelock which is the next exit.
"But she didn't do that either, she continued traveling on the first lane and go all the way to Outram exit. After exiting there, she make a U-turn back into CTE, and exit at Havelock.
"I am already late for work because of the jam, let alone her circling me around, making such big turn.
"When we finally got to Plaza Singapura's taxi stand, she try to go into the right side of the picking-up area where there was another cab in the queue on the left, and hit the kerb.
"So i was wondering, is she qualified to drive the cab? Or is she just a friend/family member of the male cab driver ID which was displayed, and is helping to take over the shift?"
Wow driving a manual crown still can eat food and drive at the same time in a massive jam road. Like that also can managed to exit at outram without any accident.
It's this type of drivers that make a bad name for Taxi drivers,in fact we usually don't like pax to eat in our cab but this F**ker eat it in front of the pax!

Wah Kaoz! drive without fasten seat belt, somemore eating in front of pax, missed 2 exits. again hit kerb. this driver.... really damage our taxi driver image.. Shame Shame!
btw, i dont fasten my seatbelt while driving too...but i'm cover in the darkness. well, can someone tell me what is the restriction time for used on bus lane ends at nite? thx
It is with great dissapointment to read this in the media. Female are suppose to be more polite, patience n clean than their male counterpart. In this instance, it shows that our women are getting from bad to worst. What on earth was she thinking???
TU, after 10p.m can drive on full day bus lane. Normal bus lane is after peak hrs.

Thanks. I turned down a pax..fortunately. But who enforces this rule? TP? Or airport security?
Airport Police. If a pax try to board ur cab at the departure hall agn, get the pax to talk to the officer, cos if it's emergency, the officer will be ok abt it. There are instances where pax came rushing out from departure hall to get a cab b'cos they 4get their passport or some urgent stuff. It only takes a few second to tell the officer abt it. If it's non emergency, then juz reject them politely and advise them to go to the T/S juz a level below. Don't ever think tat the officer are not watching and u'll get away with it cos all they need is take down ur plate no. and if you wana challenge against it, there's always cctv to prove it.
