A local company 'Alpha Synovate' turns used vegetable cooking oil here into diesel. It hopes to establish 3 fuel stations by year end. The Biodiesel is 1-2% less efficient than diesel but releases much less soot & is cheaper.

I thought this biodiesel thing is already available 2 to 3 years ago. Just that it has remained quiet for a long time due to insufficient supply for the whole island. Besides, I don't think it's going to be that cheap as they still have to process and add additives for it to work. Hope it's not going to be like the CNG thing. Only one supplier islandwide and one big monopoly.
