To penalise those "no-show" passengers, taxi companies may consider the idea of getting pax to pay the booking fee in advance.
For example : Dial 1900-65521111 for a cab. Each call is charged at $3.50. The pax only need to pay the taxi fare. CDG will credit $3 to the driver's account and keep 50 cts for their fee. If pax no show,or do not cancel booking before arrival of cab,the $3.50 will still be deducted. If pax call to cancel booking before arrival of cab and approved by operator, then only $1 will be deducted to be shared by CDG and driver.
Only locally registered post paid phone can be used to make the booking. Prepaid or other phone users can call 65522222 for a cab using the present system. However priority will be given to the 1900 paying calls.

Can work or not? I don't see any complication.

Some form of commitment must come from the pax so that it does not face abuse usage on the system.
It benefits the Coy..all these while ..when a solution is being considered or brought forth they always think how the Coy gain first.
If a plan like the above is in place...am sure we will not face crazy calls.....and i mean crazy ..when you are at thomson road ..and you get a call from toap payoh north.... u zoom there cos its 6 plus in the morning...call gets cancelled when you reached ...before you know it... Bishan st 13 calls ....and before you can react..cancell again...this must stopped....

I think this is something Comfort defines such crazy calls are wasting resources but how they can dig out a bit from there... of course customers must be happy then follow by Comfort but taxi driver who cares.
Cancel booking $1 share btw Comfort and driver, 50 cents never enough to compensate our lost but at least can reduce crazy calls. Why $3.5 flat rate? Is new policy on the way?

S$1.00 not evough to penalise call cancelled,
Imagine you book a cab S$2.50 booking fee Along comes an empty cab, you took it, if only penalise S$1.00 the pax save S$1.50, still ok
so in my opinion, it should be +S$1.00 of the booking fee ie if 2.50 booking fee then pax will be charge 3.50

Idea was good but if others coy don't follow suit, it will defeat the purpose and benefit others

Let me tell you this. If CDG the Big Bro take the lead I am sure the siblings will follow suit in no time. If CDG can work with the Telcos, then I think the plan to charge the MIA passenger is a double edge sword. Taxi companies can then take a small cut from the MIA passengers' deduction from the Telcos.
Answer: None of the above. All want to be the good guys.
Let nature take its own course bro.
My answer: Taxi drivers will like it better purely because they are the victims most of the times. Only setback is, sometimes taxi drivers also can MIA and passengers will ask for same penalty. But I strongly belief the ratio will likely be 2:100 on taxi drivers MIA.
