I won't bother to vote yes or no, because it is a clear cut that LTA will say NO.

Why? They want vehicles(included taxi) to get off the busy road.

8T...i wont disagree with you on LTA's stance...non-the-less we as cabbies shd vote whether we agree or not...this is to show our voices...at least in this forum & who knows who might be reading our forum & see how cabbies feel

you agree it's one small way to show our unhappiness instead of being silent

We call this Killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
Control vehicle population in congested roads And collect $$$.

I'll be glad if LTA reduces Taxi ERP rate to 50% of normal car.
Give and take, maybe Transport minister will consider.......> 35,000 active taxi drivers and their spouses is a great force to reckon with...

I fell that if ERP rates is reduced or even waived for taxis, it will be an incentives for most car drivers to give up driving to work in the morning rush hour and to take taxis instead. Because they will be paying about $10 less per trip into the cbd as compared to driving their own vehicles.

And how much congestion can there be? The number of taxis otr is fixed whereas the population of pte cars are growing, so who are the ones contributing to congestions and pollutions?
Fyi, the exhaust particle for euro4 diesel engines is even cleaner than normal petrol engines.

All bros, voting will close tomorrow (19/2/09) at 11.18pm. A landslide victory for all bros if LTA do away with ERP charges for all taxis. Pray and Hope. Pray and Hope. If not we can't cope (with supporting taxi rental & family, that is). smile.gif

Just reduce will do. Can't waived...
All ERP and CBD charges is paid by commuters. If there's a reduction, Commuters will be more willing to take cab.
