Highway chaos, death

Highway chaos, death

A MAN who dashed across the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) yesterday evening created chaos which led to five vehicles crashing near the Toh Guan exit.
The aftermath of the series of collisions across the three-lane expressway left one motorcyclist pinned under a lorry. The 53-year-old man died soon after.

Aircraft service engineer Alvin Tan, 45, who was in one of the cars involved, said the man who ran across the expressway was hit by another car which flung him into the lane he was travelling on.

Mr Tan said he slowed down to avoid hitting him, but the motorcycle behind him bumped his car and the motorcyclist ended up being struck by the lorry.

The 28-year-old man who ran across the road suffered slight abrasions and was arrested for his rash act.

Wonder if the columbarium nearby has anything to do with it rip.gif
This highway cuts btw bukit batok and toh guan industrial area
so FT doing a quick dash across is likely, just to save time sprint.gif

If authorities could build an underpass/overpass in this area would be good

I feel so angry, frustrated, mad and so so sad reading this news.
A life was taken away by a rash act from someone probably not from this island.
How many times have we saw accident cause by idiots who still follow rules back in their kampong, travelling against the traffic, cycling side by side taking up the lane on a busy road during the peak hours, cycling on the expressway, crossing the roads and risking their own lives without checking the traffic, the list just go on and on.
Now a man has died, all because an idiot dash across an expressway, and yes, we blame this idiot.
What happen if this idiot was killed by the vehicle that knock on him?
Who's fault?
Who to blame?
It's the driver fault.
Blame the driver.
Because he fail to look out on the traffic/road condition.
Why i say so?
Who is to be blame if a motorist hit a pedestrian/cyclist at the pedestrian crossing when the traffic light was green showing the motorist have the right of way?
Who is to be blame when a motorist knock down someone on a busy Sunday afternoon at Serangoon road (little india)??
The answer is the motorist.
Don't believe me, ask the authority, or you can try knock someone down if you think you got the right of way.
Driving is easy.
Driving to make a living.....sigh....

i had an accident 2yrs back when my car hit against a school girl crossing the road.
The police want to charge me for reckless driving. I told the police that the gal dashes out suddently from infront of the bus [statement from the gal say the bus caption ask her to 'cross'], and somemore within 50 metres from no crossing sign.
The mother , not at scene during the accident came charging at me !@#$%,
i to her let the police decide and there is no need for her to !@#$% at me.

But again, it was really a night mare knocking onto anyone on the road.

same here.
i kena one at tanglin rd 8pm, from minor rd to main rd. i was turning right and traffic is busy. waited till traffic light 10m in front turns red. right side vehs stopped one by one and as i move into the yellow box, a bicycle from right appeared! i jam brake n he fall. if i really bang him, he'll fly, bicycle will have dent. but nothing at all to his bicycle. He claim leg pain, headache, passerby call 995, so police come too.

the TP on site keep asking me i got drink or not, this n that, kept repeating a few times.
End up he say he believe me, but no matter what, i still wrong.

CB.

waited a yr plus kena claim $200, plus the fine for being inconsiderate by TP.

Lesson learnt: u green light so what... he red light so what. expressway so what.
even a car in lane 1 jam brake u kiss his backside, u are still behind him, suay lah :(

yes... the term right of way is very misleading.
only way to define this term is in court, means gotta have money to get lawyer to explain the case.

rich man's world... :(

All bros, when on the road, always expect the unexpected. Driving a car calls for full time concentration. Any lapse in an emergency and you will be in serious trouble. So please drive carefully and patiently.
