There are far too many taxis on the road

The number of taxis on the road is now at all time record high.
Never before we have so many taxis plying on the road at the same time.
Almost all available taxis in CDG and SMRT are rented out.

While the taxi companies are grinning to the bank,
taxi drivers are struggling with their livelihood.

There is little a taxi driver can do,than to suffer in silence.cry.gif
To the taxi companies, being silence is golden.biggrin.gif

Ya, still too many taxis plying the streets. No need to call anyway, stand on the streets sure got empty taxis.

Last night, 2350 hrs, around Tuas still got street pax. biggrin
Economy good time, I on MDT sound volumn, sleep in cab and wait.sleepy.gif
Save diesel plying plus extra call charge.

Anyway, let's hope the economy gets better, and by the end of year, the really
merry Christmas and happy New Year once again. wink

Too many OMO who opt to drive day shift 6am to 8pm .

It's the best plannings .... covered 2 peak hours .

It's the best time for better money and better family arrangements , and lifestyle .

But after 8pm ..... Night drivers like us busy ..... not really very busy , just never worry about next pax in town .

Night drivers like me .... if we had a good peak hour , then 8pm to 12am , chicken feed !

Not really that bad ..... since i return to this line after a year break , i broke a few personal record , really !

More good than bad .

I broke 2 records .... one , a wednesday best from 4.30pm- 12am record , i hit $230 , never did that with comfort anyway , not even with16 highest booking records . Highest comfort record4.30pm to 12am ,$220 .

2nd record , a friday night , hit good form , 4.30pm to 4am , $375 ! Never , i am so sure , only a holiday eve can match that . That nightoso washed myprevious Friday record of $220at 12am . I hit $245 by 12.30am , from 4.30pm , with one advance booking .

It was so much so much better than when i left for a year break last August !

2008 , i never fare so good driving my Sonata .

Bad ? It's better than last august .

At night after 8pm I can see many taxis going back to multi storey carpark, you are right poolman. OMO drivers already taken dual peak so no point chiong for midnight.

I agree too many taxis on the road right now, I can see this situation will change in near future. Partimers may quit when they receive better pay in full time job; ppl can't afford taking cab will change their mindset when they treasure time more than money... oh, time is money, they should know how to judge. At that moment, WOW to full time TD, can't find relief, 24 hrs everywhere got pax... no time to rest, sleeping booking come in, how? Let's see when IR opened!

Rather than looking at Peaks and Troughs, right now it's skewed, only Peaks. What about on a worst night? Depending on the motivation, there's always a tendency to apply "selective attention" focusing on the good while ignoring the bad.

Maybe we should use a weekly or monthly average to gauge. The larger the sampling the more accurate the picture.

I'm not a spokesperson for any cab coy. Like I said, I tend to take a moderate view of the situation. Like what some bros said, this industry is dynamic influence by a number of factors, he has to tweak his business model every now and then.

Agreed, more pax otr.

Fri night was busy. Everywhere shortage of taxi.
No need to take call unless outside city. When call come in, street pax less than one lamp post away... forget about call. No need to rush there n can't even find a ghost.
fm 1630hrs to 0345 hrs very close to what poolman achieved.

2006 , Singapore population was only 3.5million .....

2009 , Singapore population is now 4.5million ....

If those s-holes dun implement those 35% peak hour stuff and overhaul their former fare , they are really in trouble ... taxi really not enuf during some time of the day .

Be positive ... drive with more thinking .... taxi won't die one .

Rather , it's a question for myself : " U earn enough liao buay ?"

Mine average 4.30pm to 12am ...$180 collection . Enough liao , i go home lo .......

if more , bonus .

U earn enough ?

How much $$$ you made for the days depends on the present economy, driver's
experience, hard work and a little bit of luck, rather than the make or performance
of the taxi.

Sonata, Toyota, Kia, Wish, etc....... all the same.

No matter how good your taxi, how powerful, how new, or how stylish...
You, the driver need to perform better than your vehicle to achieve a good result.

i beg to differ ..... there is differences between a Sonata and a Crown .

From Parc Oasis > Airport , 2 taxis , one crown and one sonata , which one will reached Airport first ?

Sonata can be earlier by 6 minutes .

If every trip Sonata get 6 minutes earlier , 10 trips Sonata is 1 hour advantage , meaning Sonata can get $20 extra minimum , compared to a Crown .

That is my opinion .

fully agreed with bro donsan on logical thinking...since poolman keep on saying he earn more than driving sonata...what other factors that it's better?

bro poolman...lai lai can share? after all now everyone knows how much TD can make maybe more will become TD?

then bro donsan...you thread is a reality
