Boat Quay, Bugis sound like the same, The day one male young passenger board my taxi and just said Boat Quay and continued his handphone conversation, I fogot to confirm with him by asking him If it is bugis junction or boat quay because I did not want to disturb his telephone conversion. But whenmy taxi reached boat quay, he saidhe destination was bugis.
SoI like to remind all cabbies, when the passenger board your taxi, try to clarify the exactlocation by asking againeven the passenger is busy or whatever in order to avoidgetting trouble later.

I must agree with Patrick as I ever drove one indian couple n he mentioned he's going to Bugis and in the end he says he's going to shaw towers. I had to rebate him so more. wat the fish.....
Thank you to taxikiddy & others, True, I am a lao chiao. I forgot to ask the passenger either bugis junction (bugis is same as bugis junction, do not just say bugis) or boat quay. Because the two name sound the same.
Another tip, Sometime, once the passenger board your taxi, in a moment, you really do not know which way to go and it is very important for you to move fast at that time because the situation is not allowed for you to think which is good way to go. One go point to ask passenger is : If it is going straight ? If the passenger is familar with the road, he will tell you "YES". (Mostly, many of passengers will wait at the right direction for the taxi). Once your taxi is moving, you can move slowly at first and still have the time to think which is the best way. And tell the passenger to go by either A road or B road.
Thank you again for the support of many members here who knew I am from www.cabby.sg A simple way to support me is tell passengers (A talking point for communicate with passengers once the passengers are inside your taxi) & other cabbies (when you chit chat in the office shop) to visit my website.
Another simple way of confirmation is to mention the spelling of the word to the passenger. For example: bugis, you say b, u, g, i, s. and ask the passenger again if is it right. Sometime, If you fetch a foreigner from airport, the foreigner tell you the destination and you do not understand the passenger talking, give the passenger a paper & a pen, ask the passenger to write it on paper.
