Still wondering why there is no location surcharge for Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Should have implemented long long ago.

if taxi is the only mean for transport at the location, no surcharge.
if MRT is available one, like sgp expo and airport, surcharge apply to deter pax from taking taxi.

That's His point.
So long as there is MRT available a surcharge is levied
to make taxi more expensive- so pax may consider taking MRT.

how many times do u go there on purpose to pick up pax?
me driving taxi for 10 years liao, not once go there empty on purpose.
the only times i went there is only if kena pax going there and even that
i think it's only 3 or 4 times in 10 years.
the only exception i know of are those nite shift cabbies staying around that area.

yes agreed with TU's thinking...now with so many new MRT stns coming on...and the ridership of MRT increased...we TDs are left with crumps & that too we're rushing to fight for it...go see how long taxi Q everwhere in CBD

now even in cbd...you get pax after long Q...majority of paxs go less than 10km...Q at Battery Rd u go to sub-court lol...still go see how taxis Q like mad

coys are happy with more renting their taxis...but slowly & surely cabbies gonna struggle harder & it's happening now

those who says can earn $200 or more must have bright stars or burnt 15hrs otr

yes,places with MRT come with surcharge.

airport n singapore expo included.

Most is head to Batam or Tanjong Pinang for holiday , for Casino , Garmen dun wan encourage that .

So make those people stuck without much transport support . In the end , they stick in Sgp .

Demand for taxis is here to stay, whether got mrt or not.
Look at Vivo City and Harbour Front taxi stands.
MRT is just next to them, yet every night passengers Q long long.
Why ?

1. Taxi fare cheap. 3 or 4 person cheaper or better to take one taxi than to transfer to
feeder bus again.

2. Comfort. MRT is usually jam packed. Singapore taxis among the most modern,
cleanest and reliable in the region.

With the IR coming, Motor Racings in the plan and many other entertainment facilities up
the sleeve, more and more tourists are heading this direction.

Taxi fares should not be left behind. Increase taxi fare along with good services is logical.
