Sunday night about 10pm , got a call booking to go Woodleigh park, 2nd exit off Braddell road....pressed 10min and start heading there, GPS directed me to woodleight park off upper serangoon road.....i realised its a dead end and some waterworks building, the barrier wont open....so U-turn out and headed towards braddell road.....set GPS to find woodleigh park again but directed me back to the one at upper serangoon rd......saw woodleigh park at braddell road , but didnt enter.....10mins up , and i landed on upper serangoon road again, called my pax, and apologise, he asked me where am i.....and tell me its stated 2nd exit off braddell road.....I thought of giving up but looks like he is waiting for me, he seems to be understanding that its hard to find....entered woodleigh park off braddell road but the numbers are over 50+, not the one i am looking for.....then head out again, and saw another exit off braddell road.....finally found the place.....took 20mins.....apologised to pax.....

Woodleigh park got 3 ways to enter....off Upper serangoon rd, 2 off braddell road.

Bro Ace, did u get urself a street directory or not?
Cannot always rely on GPS, sometime you'll end up in Horlan.
The above isa goodexample why cannot rely on GPS all the time.
Also when u que, check e street directory on the area you are in now, if got call or others, at least you know where you are exactly.
If you dono how to read map, "LEARN".

Bad luck/Unhappy incidents

Had a bad day, cruise for almost 1 hr,suddenly got call booking ard 1045h Blk 425 Bukit Batok West Ave 2, Main road....Pressed 10mins then realise it is stated main road.....accepted it too fast.....reached there within 5mins, didnt see any ppl at the main road, went inside Blk 425 carpark, also no sign of pax....called Miss Pax but didnt pickup, then the call button on MDT pop up, call unsuccessful.....went out to main road to wait 10mins timer over......then press No Show....No Show Approved!

Ard Sunday 0300h, was crusing along commonwealth ave west towards city.....saw a crashed toyota at one of the junction, windscreen all shattered, pieces of glasses on the road, the tow truck arrived...moved on....3-4 taxis infront me crusing for pax.....2 of the taxi gone out of sight, left 1 taxi slightly ahead of me....approaching a junction , the taxi infront of me was about to make a right turn, on lane 1, i was on lane 3, total 4 lanes, including bus lane......suddenly got a pax near the bus-stop flag, i was in a more favourable position, and the pax was looking towards my taxi.....this taxi MAKE A SUPER SHARP LANE CHANGE by CUTTING 4 LANES to get that pax, i had to E-BRAKE to avoid collision.....

20 oct 1430h @ Vivocity , went to vivocity to queue, limo cab, and another toyota crown with pax were infront of me....Limo cab got past and joined the queue, there was several drop-offs and there wasnt anymore space to follow up the drop off queue after the Barrier, so that toyota crown took the Queueing lane, and hastily chase his lady pax out, and join the queue......as i was behind , and blocked by him.....2 other taxis that drop off pax, joined the queue as well....3 taxis jumped my queue......i queue for a while....the queue was moving but i was very unhappy......i left the queue.....and looked thru my window.....of those queue jumpers.....drove off the area, mood very bad, wanted to head home right away......while driving still mad about the incident.....then decided to stop and wait at Mustafa taxi stand to calm down as it was empty-no taxi there....took a break and got pax in 2mins.

Forgot when was it, but it was ard SEP that i just started....but that day i got a call booking to kim chuan road singtel.....pressed 10min and headed there, at the junction along hougang ave 3, traffic light is red, suddenly the car infront me, reverse and hit my front bumper....indian guy come out of the car and checked for his car dmg.......as i was on call , so i didnt want to quarrel with that guy.....and his back hit my front, i would be at the losing end.....i wave to him, and acknowledge his OK, and drove to kim chuan rd.....GPS again lead me to a dead end of kim chuan rd...nothing much there, not relying on GPS, i looked at the MDT and followed the way , turned towards the other kim chuan rd........MDT shows i arrived, i can see the Singtel building, but i was at the other side, there was a road block and constructions going on....after 20mins i found the gate for the Singtel building, security stopped me and took few mins....then security let me go, i called the pax, pax say waited too long, dont want anymore. I make a U-turn out, and the security asked no more? , i answered ya, call cancelled. Then as i drive along Upper Serangoon Rd....got call booking again, 1000 Kim Chuan Rd Singtel Bldg....I PRESSED NO(Was still on Scheme B since i dont dare to accept call booking that time)....and moved on....i got street hail pax soon after that....

0130h @ Holland Village.....inside Holland V, beside a a chinese restaurant....got taxi queue.....3 taxis infront me....finally its my turn next, 1st in queue, then 3 teenagers went to take the taxi behind me......u know the feeling.....damn pissed off..waited for more than 20mins....then pax took other taxi that just came behind me 2mins ago.......i supposed this isnt really a formal taxi queue, some other taxis were along the other side near the coffee shop.....so its a free customer choice.....for Holland V interior taxi queue spot?

0605 @ Budget Terminal Taxi queue.....saw a taxi driver shouting angrily at the TU queueing behind him.....previously the angry TU left his taxi unattended and the queue start moving fast....so the taxi behind him HORN HORN HORN........so when the angry TU shouted at the TU behind him who was queueing.....there was a commotion...and many TU popped out of their taxis.....but as the queue was moving fast.....it didnt last long, so everything was back to normal....at this moment, i saw a lady in late thirties, dressed very smartly, miniskirt, standing 1.6m tall, pretty woman, i thought she is air stewardess, she was talking to a man......then suddenly she got into her Limo Cab...Vrooom.....filled up the gap of the taxi queue.....Very professional image....Thumbs up for the Limo Lady driver!

Question : The indian who reverse and bump into my front bumper, if he already have damages before he knocked onto me, then he trying to find a scapegoat to fleece money out of ppl, so would he have advantage since his rear hit ur front, u will be always in the losing end?

Jam brake

0935h was travelling on Lane 1 along PIE-Jurong, toyota crown taxi infront me was travelling at high speed, i was following behind with a safe following distance of 3 car length(Is this safe, not too sure, forgot liao).....out of the sudden, the taxi infront brake, i almost hit it, glad i managed to response fast and brake almost instantly...but my 2 elderly pax got a fright.......i apologised to the 2 elderly pax for the sudden brake...

Reminder : Do not tailgate, always maintain safe following distance!

Question : What is the correct safe following distance, who still remember?

World Trade Centre is now Harbour Front Centre.

Safe distance is 3 sec or count "one zero, one one, one two" (10, 11, 12)

90% accident is bcos of tailgate, when tyre worn out 100% collision for sure. $2000 gone liao.

I have been using few types of GPS device during past 8 years, in my humble opinion, Jerome Wee's Singapore map still the best (http://gpsmaps.jwpixs.com). When you purchase the Garmin unit you should have his map installed right? If you need latest update you may need to go back to the shop but may not be the very latest one.

You may donate a small amount obtain donor's map (immediate release after update) from his site regularly. If you found any error certainly you can feedback and the next release (2~3 weeks time) the error should gone.

Beside his map, www.malsingmaps.com, and, www.malfreemaps.com also provide free Singapore map, but update is slow and lots of things are omitted if compare to Jerome's donor map.

Take note that a good GPS for taxi driver MUST able to locate the building entrance, not backgate nor block by fencing... Even commercial map such as papago, mapking do have such problem. Your bad encounter looks familiar to me because when I used my new mapking got booking in Sentosa.... round round round... finally scold by control center, surrender the job after 20 mins. The next day I took my garmin with Jerome's map went there... haha 3 mins reached.

PM me (I m sure you'll find it) if you need further info.
Sorry mod, not advertise for Jerome.... I don't know him. smile.gif

0701h , cruising along sims ave , woman 40+ flag near lor 25 geylang....then told to go lor 25a geylang, fetch another person. It was a wheel-chaired man abt 40+,one leg gone up to the thigh, told to go hougang ave 3. I turned to airport and left to hougang ave 3 and asked, where exactly they want to go....pax dunno....i stopped by the roadside with hazard lights, pax took out a notebook and says Blk 11, hougang ave 3. I checked the street directory and found it. But when we reached there, Blk 11 is nowhere in sight!!!!! I asked the BAO shop at Blk 6, and was told Blk 11 no longer exists. Pax says want to go market if there is any nearby. Uncle Bao tell me the market some moved to Lorong Ah Soo, and Kovan MRT.....I stopped the meter and give them a free trip towards Kovan....personal charity. Stopped my taxi nearest to kovan's carpark. The lady pax, asked me to wait here, while she checked the area. After 5-10mins, she came back and nodded her head, I helped to take out the wheelchair, she opened it and support the man to the wheelchair. It was 0800h and since the free parking is already over, i went to kovan hawker to eat wanton mee, then left......during my lunch @ Toa Payoh HDB hub, i went to popular bookshop to browse the street directory......and checked Hougang Ave 3, Blk 11, it was not there.....and also checked World Trade Centre(Now Harbour Front Ctr) was indicated on the 09/10 street directory, i bought the street directory $12.90. It is definitely well spent, since i would be using it very often.

After dropping pax at T1 Changi airport, went to queue at T2....not too sure where to go, followed a taxi infront of me....he stopped by the toilet as he see a taxi there, then realise that taxi is not queueing, so we moved on......so we move towards the part with 2-3 U turns, although there are no taxis there...but he followed the path.....then suddenly came 3 taxis, directly cut infront of us, by just making a left turn towards the end......i dunno if we are stupid or they are too smart....wah lao.....no taxis there, can directly make a left turn towards the taxi queue? See 2 dumbass circling around the path when the taxi queue isnt there, and overtake them, the feeling must be damn shiok lol.....Actually i buay tahan......but the taxi infront of me can loon....ok lor, no choice gotta accept it....

Question : No taxi queues on that 3-U turns, if u see 2 taxis circling there, would u cut the path and go directly to the taxi queue, or wait for them since they are ahead first?

Was cruising along Jervois road, after leaving the Shell Petrol kiosk...then along Jervois road, got pax flag.....i stopped by the side and pax opened my door and was about to board my taxi....then the taxi behind keep horning me....my mood was good today, so i asked the pax to board his taxi....That taxi behind me was at Cable Road - off Jervois road, he was about to make a right turn to get the pax that was flagging for taxi. When i stopped by the pax, he already start horning non stop......insisting that he saw the pax first and that pax should be his.
As i travel further up Jervois road, got another pax flag again.....i stopped and helped with the baby chair, the taxi behind caught up.....as he passed by, he stared at me.....still angry i almost "stole" his pax.

I also have encounter situations when i saw the pax when i was about to make a right turn, and pax took the other taxi that was along the main road.....i dont complain....since he has the right of way....

Question : How would u handle this situation if it happens to you, the taxi behind u, horn u non-stop, protesting angrily....?

Bro, we are living in a 'dog-eat-dog' world.
When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
You should have just pick-up the pax and move on.
There's nothing the other cabby can do as it wasn't in a taxi-stand.

Recently, i found out my MDT stopped talking.....i have the TTS on(Text to speech)....called the MDT hotline, told to go sin ming....today 1000h i reached there, i cant find where it is, later ask around and found out where it is.After u entered from the entrance, go to the end, u see the taxi meter area, ahead to the left, make a left U-turn, and u will see the Cablink repair area. Went to the counter and report issue, giving details of my taxi no. , IC no. , received a white MDT repair record card as i was first time there. MDT was fixed and tested TTS working fine, and i left.

23 Oct 09 @ 1942h, i received a sms....
Amount : $1.50 - Your Cablink Giro deduction is on 26/10/09. Please ensure sufficient fund in your UOB account.

Anyone knows is that for repairing the MDT TTS....or tell me what is that for?
