Taxi Uncles' Preferred Route

Being a new taxi drivers on the road sometimes may not know what is the popular route other driver takes. We need input from sifus here. No need to mention bad experience, different alternatives are welcome and selected route/s will be listed down for reference.

Assumptions:

1. Passenger don't know how to go;

2. Normal traffic condition all areas (60km~80km/hr);

3. ERP not in operation.

Happy driving!

Cheers.

I'll prefer to go all the way down Henderson Rd to Alexandra Rd avoiding all
the traffic lights on Tiong Bahru Road.

Looks like a simple route like this may have different alternatives. Thanks all input, I trust it is absolutely a good thread for newbies.

My stupid route after missed Kg Bahru, I drove straight to Cantonman Rd then Zion Rd, Grange Rd, Tanglin Rd and Orange Grove. Very long and time consumming.

Upon reaching, pax say:" No No No, I want to go Shangri La in Sentosa!!"
Wuahahaha.....juz kidding har...
Anyway after I confirm which Shangri La the pax wana go, I'll take e route as follows:
Lower Delta>River Valley>Nathan Road>Grange Road>Tanglin Road>Orange Grove, or,
Lower Delta>River Valley>Hoot Kiam Rd>Paterson>Scotts Rd>Steven Rd>Anderson>Orange Grove
Not the shortest route though. biggrin.gif

Whenever I plan the route (not using GPS), I always work backward...
i.e. Orange Grove <- Tanglin Rd <- ???
By then, logical thinking the shortest route always straight with minimal turning, therefore enter from Tanglin head thru tail is the best, am I right? Please correct me if I'm wrong, newbie mah...

However if we make short cut thru rich man area such as Jervios lar, Nathan Rd lar... pax mostly will not make any noise bcos knowing such area the cabby must be seasoned, right?

I like BN's route: Lower Delta>River Valley>Nathan Road>Grange Road>Tanglin Road>Orange Grove [haha because I know how to go in/out nathan rd, Jervios is too complicated for me]

But some times,especially during peak hours....
"No no, take ECP " boss said.

Yup, ask ask and ask.....

Why ar? only in Singapore taxi drivers ask pax which way to go, and some smart cabby give multiple choice... the rest of the world I can't see any. Is singapore road network really so complicated? perhaps sgp cabbies not brave enough to take the challenge, kiasia?
