A report on Chinese news channel CCTV 4 claims there is a shift in attitude among Singaporeans from anger to pity towards the SMRT bus drivers involved in last week's strike. The report stated

that Singaporeans, as well as the local media outlets, sympathised with the drivers who claimed that they were treated unfairly. STOMPer Rachel shared a video of the news report, which said

that media exposure of the incident has led Singaporeans to view the matter in a different light, as compared to their initial reaction when the strikes first took place last Monday (Nov 26).

According to the report, Singaporeans felt that the treatment the Chinese bus drivers had been receiving was unfair. One reason for this is that Singaporean, Malaysian and Chinese bus drivers

received different salaries despite similar work conditions. The report also mentions that things would not have ended up in such a state had there been proper communication channels between

SMRT and its drivers. Singaporeans are also reportedly concerned about whether unequal treatment from employers towards their workers of different nationalities is appropriate.
