PostRants on the pain of taking transportation in Singapore

For most of us, our mode of public transport in getting to our daily business in Singapore are Buses, MRT and maybe taxis.

I dread the thought of taking public transport (with the exception of taxis), be it buses or the MRT. Yes the frequency have increased during peak hours

but you can never ever avoid jamming yourself in pack of sardines of buses and the trains during peak hours. The ordeal of being in these squeezing pack

of sardines cabin begins where you would subject your physiques against the people around you:-

1. brushing against to the next person's hairy arms,
2. smelling the hairy armpits ordor, sweaty backs, bodily odor,
3. long wet hair where you can almost smell the particular brand of shampoo that the person is using
4. loud disturbing conversations where you are trying to relax or listen to your mp3
5. encounters of looney 'creatures' : talking & laughing to him/herself, weird behaviours e.g. sleeping or sitting on the floor of the train,

mothers disciplining their kids as if they are at their own home and unfortunate events such as fainting spells where people around you feel 'obligated' to help
6. Not to forget the 'giving up seat' unofficial campaign. Note: no one is obligated to give you a seat

#Hint: Try taking the MRT at the western end of Singapore after 6:00pm during weekdays and experience the ordeal of tranportation nightmare.

Sickened by these negative aspects experience, at times I would rather fork out a few dollars and take the taxi, epecially after a long day in the office.

Nothing beats the serene privacy of being in the cab alone listening to your favourite mp3 while been driven all the way to your residence.

No hassles, no looney ruckus in buses or trains, no bad bodily odor, no squeezy pack sardines situations...

But all is not lost for buses and trains. I do enjoy these mode of tranport during non-peak hours and weekends (at certain hours only)
