SINGAPORE: An accident at Kranji Expressway (KJE) early Friday morning left eight people injured and triggered massive traffic congestion.Police said they received a call requesting for assistance at 5.30am. On arrival, police established there was an accident involving two private
buses. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), which also received a call for assistance, said the location of the accident was near KJE's
exit leading to Pan Island Expressway towards Tuas. SCDF said eight people were sent to the National University Hospital (NUH). Six of them
have been discharged after they were treated for minor injuries sustained in accident. NUH said that two others are in stable condition.Some of the men injured in the accident were from battery manufacturing company Energiser. Police investigations are ongoing.The traffic jam on the expressway began to ease before 9am, after the lanes at the accident site were cleared. Separately, a driver was sent
to hospital after he was involved in an accident along the Pan-Island Expressway near the Eng Neo exit in the direction of Changi Airport.Police said the accident involving two cars happened at about 10.30am. The driver, who was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, was conscious.- CNA/ir/fa

Of the eight people involved in Friday morning's Kranji Expressway accident, six suffered minor scratches and have been
discharged from the National University Hospital (NUH). Two people are still being treated. The are in "stable condition", NUH said.
Seven workers from battery company Energizer are among those involved in the accident. It is unclear where the eighth worker is from.
The workers were injured when the bus ferrying them crashed into another private bus, causing a three-hour jam on the expressway.
Witnesses say the jam started before 6am, and traffic is still not back to normal at 9.30am. Preliminary checks with the Traffic Police
and Land Transport Authority reveal that the entire expressway was closed between 6am and 8am.
The workers had been picked up and were on their way to work at the company's factory in Tuas said Energizer industrial relations
manager Mr Kelvin Hor who was notified of the accident at 6.55am Friday morning.
