SINGAPORE - Drivers on Singapore roads appear to be reckless, selfish, uncivil and belligerent, judging from the number of
stories of accidents and road-rage incidents submitted lately by citizen journalists to Stomp.
The prevalence of in-vehicle cameras has led to an increase in reports about bad driving.
Take, for example, the case of a driver of a blue Honda who refused to give way to an ambulance.
The report of what he did drew considerable flak from Stompers after the story appeared in the website's citizen-journalism
section, Singapore Seen. Despite the ambulance's blaring siren, the Honda stayed in its lane, forcing the ambulance to
squeeze its way through from the left. Stomper Christine alerted Stomp to the driver's brazen behaviour, which had been
recorded on video and uploaded on YouTube by user zeHuggable. Echoing the sentiments of many Stompers, Christine
called for the Honda driver to be punished, citing a clause in the Public Order Act which states that a person who obstructs
the passage of any ambulance may be fined up to $10,000 or imprisoned for up to six months, or both.
