hi,

actually hor, different company offers different packages. each packages serves differently.
like example CNG maybe more convenient for those staying at the north or west where CNG kiosks are easily available.

or some that want to get more calls but may have to settle with lower incentive and lesser free-rental day.

or low overhead, low rental like a honda FIT so as to drive OMO.

it really depending your personal needs.

understood , another noob question here,

Being as a relief driver for a start, are you able to get daytime operating hours like 7am - 5pm? or mostly you probably get to do on odd hours like night shift only?

you must know your needs, like cheap rental? convenience diesel pump? cheap diesel? calls? CNG? more free rental days? higher incentive? and etc...

narrow down your preference and you would get an answer. smile

Hi ugin8188 :
suggest you start your TD life by become a relief driver 1st ..
after 6~12 mth otr (on the road) ... then U can think of hiring a cab from a Taxi Company ,,, its safer !

Hi ugin1818,

RRM is right. It depends on what you want to do with your new vocation. If you are fully switched into this job, you may want to be the hirer as you can decide on how you run your taxi business.

If you are just testing water, better just look for a relief driving job first. This way, you can get a good feel of how taxi driving would work out for you in the future. Otherwise, you may end up with a lousy deal.

Assuming you are set, choosing the right company would help you a lot more to ensure long term sustainability. So far, I have driven for CDG and Premium and have friends driving Transcab and SMRT. CDG has done an excellent job of marketing themselves to the general taxi passenger community and I believe that it is a safe bet for you. Reputation of other companies are also well documented in various forums such as this, cabby.sg and sg.forum etc.

The above are just my opinions and do not necessary represent everyone in this business.

Thank you, joetanks

Hi RRM,

I would be happy to share my 2-cents worth whatever it is with all members, especially since the basis of working in this trade (though I am mainly doing super relief) is to be able to serve the passengers and make our effort more professional.

As much as there is a lot of confusion on the rules of the trade....I found that sharing with each other especially in times of difficulties would bring out the win-win for all....namely passengers and taxi uncles....

Cheers and Good luck.
