The taxi ride home from Changi Airport was far from pleasant for one STOMPer who points out, not one, not two, but four points that made this journey an unpleasant one.
STOMPer Jing Rong had arrived at Changi Airport yesterday (May 28) at about 12.45am and boarded a cab home. The ride home riled the STOMPer up, and this is why, according to the STOMPer in an email:
"1) Before boarding taxi, the driver had already turned on his meter and by the time when we moved off, the meter already showed $3.20 plus midnight charges.
2) The driver is rude and forcefully squeezed our luggages into the boot despite limited space and even showing us his displeased face.
3) Instead of airport surcharge of $3, he charged us advance booking fees of $5.20.
4) Driving without due care, changing lane without signalling.
"If he can do this to local and for sure he will do this to tourist as well. What will the tourists think if they board this taxi?
"He will not only tarnish the taxi company and his own reputation but also Singapore's reputation with these kind of dishonest acts."
i think it's a pack of lies. maybe there's some misunderstanding during the ride. stomper got pissed-off so conjured up a pack of lies to sabo cabbie. here's another anti-taxi.............
Is this on the papers? Cos if the stomper got no reciept to show over charging, don't you guys think that we cabbie can sue the stomper n the papers for defamation to all the cabbies? So IS THIS ON THE PAPERS??

I doubt he had any receipt to prove. If it's really the case of over-charging, no rogue cabby will print out the receipt to let you have the proof to complain against him. If it's a written receipt, no point as it doesn't show the extra charges as it will be bound into 1 amount.

It is so easy & convenient to complain about taxis & taxi drivers.
Some passengers complain because, with their fares, they expect more than just being driven from point A to point B.They expect to be treated like valuable customers, rightful consumers.
Motorists complain because they are jealous taxi drivers are driving much more powerful & fanciful cars than theirs.
Let us not get upset about these, as LTA & taxi companies know best.
We don't live to drive a cab.We drive a cab for a living.
It is so nice to be chatting with you all wonderfuluncles at this wee hour.
Any members here also member of TOA ??? If yes, please raise this issue to them for their reply to STOMP and take the alleged victim to court to clear the good name of cabbies. We got SMRT TOA, Comfort TOA, Prime TOA so many TOA ........why nobody reply??
Can't blame the ordinary members. They just know how to pay only. Once I spoke to a fellow taxi driver, and he admitted that he didn't know how to contact his TOA.Didn't have their contact number & didn't know who was in charge.
As for the committee members, they only appear to show support for organised events. When have you seen any statements from them to challenge complaints and clear good name of cabbies?
I appeal to those in the committee to step forward and speak out more often for your paying members. If you are not capable, then step aside,be contented with just driving your own cabs.
By the way, as a figure of the taxi population,I always want to be a member of the organisation.Nevertheless I don't pay because I don't know where the fee goes.Any committee members here for comments?

Is All these Really Happen ?
Wah! I learnt something new today from Stomp. Advanced booking in airport. Ha ha ha ha.Can anyone advise if taxi drivers can change meter fare from airport to advance booking? Not sure if he is mistaken.Few questions here:
1) Could it be Limo Cab? No mention by Stomper on type of taxi. 2) Is his destination very nearby which upset the taxi driver. If this is the case then taxi driver is in the wrong. Queuing at Airport is pure luck, good or bad. 3) The lack of evidence like receipt from passenger could mean that it's a plain bull s.h.i.t. 4) Passenger could have left Singapore for a long period and suddenly came back to Singapore too shock to realise the fare increase. He may have lost touch and not been reading the news abroad.
Welcome back to Singapore, lost soul.

TOA??? As mention before, Taxi Operator Association only looks after the welfare of the taxi companies, it's CEOs, Directors & Shareholders. They will NEVER look into the welfare of taxi drivers so as not to get into the bad books of the LTA & Singapore Government.
I will bluntly put it: Don't ever think TOA will be on your side but please keep on paying your monthly subscription so that the CEOs can have their year-end bonuses.

Fully agree with Bro CamryLimo. TOA will not look into the interest of taxi driver that's why they are called Taxi Operators Association not TDA Taxi Drivers Association.
