heard that a chairman of those asso also cabby.. but do they ply the street as long as us? or they got subsidies from the asso?

Another taxi driver from Hell



Alate night taxi ride yesterday (May 31) not only turned out to be an unpleasant journey for STOMPer Jasmine's sister and her young daughter, but a frightening one for her child as well.

She said her sister boarded the taxi with her daughter, who was below 4-years-old, at about 10.20pm at Sembawang Close.

Said the STOMPer:

"My sister was going home and so unluckily she boarded the above taxi.

"She boarded the taxi as usual and informed him of the final destination.

"Before reaching the destination, at around Yio Chu Kang MRT she noticed the taxi fare exceeded her cash on hand and there was no NETS machine on board.

"She informed the uncle and informed him she will pay him the balance later when she reach her destination, however, the uncle insisted on sending her to the nearby ATM machine to withdraw money and the meter kept on ticking at her expense. That's ok, still within tolerence."

She said when the first ATM was found to be faulty, the taxi driver insisted they went to another ATM, with the meter still running.

Added the STOMPer:

"When she went down to withdraw money as a mother she will bring her child down together.

"The taxi uncle followed her from behind worrying that she will run off with the child (which I believe and ofcourse you will also believe that the small child won't be able to run fast, if they really want to take taxi for FREE).

"His action not only caused fear upon the small child and make her cry non-stop on the spot and he scold my sister that next time never bring enough cash, dont take taxi.

"The usual fare was below $10.00 However, this time round the taxi fare was $11.80.

"When my sister request for a receipt he still scold her back that she want she can go lodge a complaint.

"Which she had already called up the hotline and i think i need to write as a record and which I want a reply."

The STOMPer wonders if this is how a taxi driver should behave and whether this is the kind of attitude that shows customer service.

She said:

"If the child was badly frightened in this type of situation, how is he going to compensate?

"My compensation is not in monetary form."

SMRT: Action has been taken against errant taxi driver

 In response to STOMPer Jing Rong's complain of an unpleasant taxi ride home from Changi Airport(post dated May 29), public transport service provider SMRT gave its side of the story.
In an email to STOMP, its spokesperson clarified that the taxi driver involved had accidentally keyed in a higher surcharge of $5.20, instead of the airport surcharge of $3.00. However, he had deducted $3.00 from the passengers' final taxi fare of $46.90.
She also added:
"We have reminded the driver of the seriousness and penalties of overcharging and havealso counselled him on the importance of good customer service and upholding the image of the company.
"We have since extended our apology to the passenger for his unpleasant experience. "

surcharge of $5.20, instead of the airport surcharge of $3.00. However, he had deducted $3.00 << shouldnt he deduct $2.20 instead since the surcharge was suppose to be $3.00 but accidentally key in as $5.20?

Charged $17 for $5 ride by cabby

A trip from Henderson Road to Stirling Road would have cost $5, says a STOMPer, but instead, she was charged $17 for her ride.

Sim had checked with her friend after she went to a wake in the Henderson area.

In her email to STOMP, she says;
"This happen today (26/9/08) around 6:30pm. My mother and I were going to a friend's wake at Stirling Road.

"I was not too sure where Stirling Road was so I asked the taxi driver and he told me there was a traffic jam at Henderson Road. And he drove to Telok Blangah Heights straight to Bukit Panjang and drove around Clementi, then to my destination.

"I was thinking he wanted to cheat our money.

"He kept quiet and never said anything. When we reached I paid him $17.00 for the trip.

"I find that nowadays taxi drivers are very dishonest as they pretend they know how to get to a place when they don't.

"I asked my friend how much a trip from my home in Telok Blangah Way to Stirling Road would cost by cab and was told it would cost $5.

"The cab I took was white in colour, and the driver was an old man."

Feeling that she's being cheated and yet never ask for receipt and lodge a complain but instead write in to stomp and let ppl have the perception that most cabbies are like that.
In the end the rotten egg get away those that give the old or young free ride get the blame.
HOW MANY TIMES MUST WE REPEAT THAT WITHOUT A RECEIPT, IT PROVES NOTHING.

AND STOP POSTING IT ON STOMP AND MAKE A FOOL OUT OF YOURSELF!!
