this evening as i was waiting for a cab along sims ave, a passenger van drove up to me
and with the passenger's window wind down, the driver asks where i am heading to.
i says tampines n the driver asks me to hop into the van. i was shock for a moment,
he than show me a VDL and says 'dont worry, i'll charge you by the distance'. i was
curious, so i hop up but not before i reminded him that i need a receipt for the trip.

inside the van, he keeps telling me that he has fetch many workers from the factory
near kallang even policeman and prison warren. what he was trying to prove is that
what he is doing is legal. ashamed.gif

upon reaching my destination, i remind him for my receipt. he issued me an ordinary
receipt one can be found in bookshop with his PA number plate n mobile number. hmm.gif

so how? private bus driver also 1 2 rob taxi drivers? evileye.gif

so how much did the driver charge u based on distance?...cheaper than cab?

if the van dun belong to him it's illegal to collect $ from public...its just like using a singtel van & use it to collect $ not for the companyweirdface.gif

Hah, I oso kenna b4 along AMK ave5 a bus (its those type of old primary school bus, a lot of alumunium material type) stop and ask me too

Bus Driver : I can fetch you , where you want to go ?
Me : Chai Chee
Bus Driver : 12.00
Me : OK but I need receipt
Bus Driver : I don't have receipt
Me : Sorry , I need receipt

Then he drove off ...

Another time my wife was waiting at YCK Taxi Stand , A Wish MPV private car stop and said he is oso taxi and ask where she want to go , but she din take lah , actually saw this MPV drop some lady off before turning into taxi stand

This are actually a modified version of the old time pirate taxis. I don't think it is legal, and I would not encourage bros to support them, if private van and cars can become taxis and just cruise around asking pax to take, than why do we need to pay high rental for our taxis? In fact bros should report them to the authority to help fellow cabbies bros here make a living...

You should use your handphone to do a voice recording and report him to LTA. Robbing us poor cabbies of our pax .

The pax themself is asking 4 their own trouble, wat happen if the driver had carry something illegal in his veh ??

the usual fare from my office to my home is $12+ by taxi, he chrg me $11. so to think
of it, his calculation is quite close. i guess he must be once a taxi driver too. anyway,
of cos i will support my brossss lah, i condemn this type of behavior. i hop up to his
van was juz to see what he has inside his 'hu lu'. keke

anyone 1 2 volunteer to imposter a LTA officer to call him on his mobile to see what he
says? he seems to sound legal, i mean he put it to me as is legal which i doubt so too.
if it doesn't work after calling him which he dont seem to accept the fact is illegal, than
we go for real LTA. what you guys think? smile.gif

To protect this industry n fellow drivers..we must be the eyesn ears for the relevant departments.

Let show them that STC is a serious club ..

What's going on must stop before it gets out hand..soon you find chinaman drving his made in china mpv ..fetching our mei meis....

dun think its wise to call & impose as lta officer leh...may back fire

can do legally by writing to lta if they are aware of such things going on & whether its illegal to pick up pax & charge...and the course of action if we come across such peopleidea.gif

You mentioned that he issued you a receipt for the trip, so I would suggest that you make a report to LTA ASAP, you can used the receipt as evidence against him.

there is a shift in the business paradigm for smes n mncs..

the econonmy is taking its toll on these coys that , they have put their fleet of vehicles on the road to earn extra income.. hehehehehe

very true...next year the economy dun look good...that relates to many smes & mncs will see alot of layoffs

so we expect to see more cabbies on the road next year...more competition means our income will also shrink

so in time of bad economy...how will we ext'g cabbies earn extra income?

I belief it's illegal for minivans or vans to collect fares from the public unlike in taxis where there is a meter installed and approved by LTA. And especially soliciting for passengers. Also private cars are not allowed to ferry passengers for a fee. Check the insurance fine prints and you can see many restrictions.smile.gif

Bro you can call LTA to verify whether it's legal or not and if it's illegal he will be considered pirate Taxi. If he is charge for pirate Taxi he'll be fined and his vehicle will be confiscated.I think we should put a stop type of illegal practice.furious.giffurious.giffurious.gifbiggrin.gif
