Thank Runroadman and An for your replies,

I heard that there is no life for omo, diedie have to drive more than 12+hrs daily to make 70 to 100 profit. is this true?

does relief driver pay half for monthly parking to hirer?
any other costs besides half rental and running fuel costs?
what about a gps? does it help to find places?

thank you.

thanks to Hirer and An for your replies,

i m worried about high cost of rental, so i think its better to be relief as rental should be halved to $50+ for an auto cab?

also i m not very familiar with many roads/places and i dont think a cab comes with gps installed, i am looking at gm4320 gps $499/- to help me solve this problem. what do you guys think?

is this economic crisis would hurt cabbies takings? so far no answer for this question.

i am now working in retail line, 6 days of standing is really hurting my legs. so i am seriously looking for an alternative.

    thank you.

    smile.giflet me put it straight,
you think taxi driver can tahan for so many years if it ( the job) cant support their family?

and save the GPS gadget money for raining days,
get a CDG comfort/citycab taxi pre installed with GPS and learn the route one day at a time,
    one customer per trip,
there is no quick fix solution.

encouraging words can only just do so much,
you gotta take 1 step at a time,
by committing firstly as a part time relief driver,

    good luck,

    oh,
economy trouble hits everyone in SG,
    so if it's bad there,
it's also gonna be bad here too.. keep cool

"is this economic crisis would hurt cabbies takings? so far no answer for this question"

max...for me i look at it this way

    (a) we've 1 million FTs here...most fares are paid by their coys
    (b) although tourists expect to drop...there are still some super rich who come here
    (c) there'll be many who are still late for work
    (d) china mei mei dun know s'pore so still need cabs
    (e) old & sick needs cab esp at hospitals
    (f) every week TOTO make some very rich
    (g) robbers need money to rob also take cabs

the list goes on...so max...if people need to eat have to eat lor...i dun see restuarant during weekends are empty...last but not least s'pore can weather well during this crisis

have confident...but need to extra work hard...if you drive at least your bum will be flat instead of aching legs as retail man hahahasmile.gif

    Hi Bro Max

Typically on average S$/hour is about S$22

say you only manage 9 good hours out of 12hrs shift

    9 x 22 - 50 rental - 40 diesel

still got at least 100 bucks

but every day is not the same sometimes more sometims less

parking up to individual with the 2 of u to discuss..usually hirer do all if he dont give u return bonus from coy... as for me my timing 5-5 so anything inside this time i BAO.. not really worth according to some
other cost is cigarettes and makan and tea and newspapers OR quicky at gey or joo c
comfort got the better GPS i think.. just type in the add and u get it

    Thanks for all your advice,

Taxiuncle, is it $70 to 100 after rental + fuel for relief driver?

cng, prime or comfort or city cab for a cab?

An, do you know how much is prime auto rental?

which is better? 5 days relief or 7 days relief? can weekends get more than 70?

I know i am asking so many questions, please bear with me as i need advice from people with experience driving taxi for a living. Thank you.

    Max,

To sum it up...." Just DO It " - you dont try you dont know..

Every day is a new chapter n it has its challenges,,,

Practise makes perfect... the more you drive ,,the better you will be at your profession..

Reward equates to your hard work n discipline...

Have a positive mind n get out there....the learning process is taking the first step.

$70-$100 is income. it would be more on weekend n or near p holiday.
as for which taxi is good, to each his own.

Thanks to everyone for your advices, it is encouraging to find support from all of you.

For the comfort/citycab gps, i was told that it can search for location and name of road/building. does it show the shortest route to get there?

    thank you.

    Hi Max,
The comfort GPS will only show you the location and direct straight line to the locations. It doesn't provide any routing information. But routing is depends on many other factors, eg. traffic conditions, pax preferrences, etc...

As for "i am now working in retail line, 6 days of standing is really hurting my legs. so i am seriously looking for an alternative." Fyi, your legs and bum will still hurts due to many hours of pedal and seating...

Every job has its pros and cons, so you will not know until you are in it. The very most important thing is that you must really really enjoy driving around, because it will be very normal for you to be clocking about 300+km per shift... That is a very long distance to be driving around in...

Lastly, good luck and be safe!biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif
