Cabby removes peak hour surcharge after being questioned by STOMPer Puzzled at why the 35% peak hour surcharged was included in his cab fare even after he boarded the taxi at 8.10pm, STOMPer Eadee questioned the cabby.
Upon confrontation, the cabby mumbled an excuse and offered to waive off the extra surcharge.
In an email to STOMP, Eadee says:
¡°I boarded this taxi near Serangoon Road at 8.10pm yesterday (Nov 24).
¡°I noticed that the 35% surcharge kicked in but I kept quiet.
¡°I continued to monitor the running surcharge and the meter did not stop accumulating until I reached my destination in Sembawang Road.
¡°When I reached my destination, I told the taxi driver that I wanted a receipt.
¡°That was when I asked him why his meter surcharge was still running even at 20.41 pm.
¡°He mumbled some excuse and offered to remove the surcharge of $5.90 from the fare.¡±
