Taxi booking

Hi there

Does any1 know, if u had booked a cab, d driver left cos he claimed u r late, does any1 knw do taxi companies have any guidelines hw long do d drivers need to wait b4 they can drive off?

if d passenger is late for less than 5 minutes, is it ethical for d driver to drive off? shdnt d driver hv d courtesy to call, like most do? altho passengers do MIA sometimes after booking, there r instances which drivers do d same. likewise, sometimes passengers may b held up n could be late (not tt they purposely), drivers may oso b late due to traffic held ups.

i recently had this bad experience. i feel drivers shd be more empathic, understanding instead of onli thinking abt making $$$ all d time.

i wont name d cab Co but there's onli these few operators ard lah.

Bro gg, then why you never ans the qn lei??
Anyway, waiting time range from 2mins to 5mins on top of the eta timing given by the driver.
Most cabbie don't mind wait for a few more mins but if every call we gota wait a few more mins, that's a lot of mins added up.
To the commuters, it's juz one trip to them but to us, it's juz a trip from the 20+ trips we do day in day out, not forgetting the bad experiences everyday.
There are black sheeps, cabbies and passenger alike, so don't let a single bad experience spoil your mood or worst, stereotype all cabbies to be the same too, that's not fair to most of us.
As most of us don't stereotype passengers also.
So back to the qn, how long should a cabby wait, the answer is: If you need us to wait a little longer, please let the cabby know and have the courtesy to allow the meter to be turn on. Don't expect the cabbie to call you tho most cabbies will cos you were being inform the time of arrival so you should be ready to go when you make the booking.
If not, try to be a cabbie for a day, then you tell me how long should we wait.

hi Anonymous,

upon reaching pax loc & if pax is still not around...as a rule we wait for 5 mins before we activate 'no show' & the system wld delete the booking

however many cabbies are very frustrated with many paxs who book for a cab but take the opportunity to board another whenever they see an empty cab come along...so when we dun see you that's the 1st thought in our mind

the amt of time is wasted to travel to booking pax's loc & worst foregoing wld-be paxs on the road are a setback to us...lack of graciousness in this so call 1st world country

as my bro hv said it takes two hands to clap

yesh i do emphatise with d drivers who r at times d victims of passengers who either 'no show' or r overly late but as i implied in my prev post, it wd b good if drivers n passengers r understanding towds ea other.

as a sugg, give a 5 minute grace to d customer; if no show, call d custmr 1st to confirm b4 driving off. this is juz basic courtesy. if d passenger does not answer d phone, or after confirming tt he/she will arrive at d waiting pt but didnt turn up after 5 mins, then d driver shd drive off. for myself, a frequent passenger who always book a cab after wk, i will give d driver at max 15 min grace, else i'd book anthr cab. i thk it's enuff to account for traffic jam, toilet break or drivers' loss of direction. d satellite thingie is not very accurate in its estimation time of arrival, fr my experience. very often, im d one havin to wait for d drivers, who sometimes had difficulty locating my workplace.

sometimes i get phone reminders which r automated once d taxi arrive. i thk tt's a brilliant svc provided by XXX operator. can any1 advise do passengers always get d automated phone reminders (once taxi arrive) when they make a booking? my bookings r always thru sms.

"Bro gg, then why you never ans the qn lei??" Bluenuts

as u know i m a new "bird" , thought let lau bird do the explaining is more appopriate.

If all pax is as gracious as "anonymous" cabbies would be kill chicken kill duck liao !!

To enlightens anonymous:
1. For myself, once confirm a booking, i press 7 minutes to reach destination. On reaching dest. i press arrive. Control will wait till the full 7 minutes for me to press " call pax" If pax did not show up or answer the call, i have to wait for another 3 minutes( not sure of the waiting time ) for us to be able to cancel the booking.

2. All in , with no show pax, i have to waste 10 minutes plus opportunity of picking other pax along the way to fullfill the booking, not to mention feeling of being fooled !!

3. Normally if i m late for the booking, i apologise profusely, but some pax treat it as cabby's duty to wait for them.

thks gg138 ur explanation is very clear. if onli every driver can be like u. Hmmm ... at least 5 mins grace will b nice. esp for passengers like us who book cab after work fr office which there might b some time lapse. sometimes we may b packing up n goin to leave offc, then boss may suddenly give u some last min stuff to clear. or u may hv to wait for d lift (esp those whose offc is on d very high levels in Shenton Way) for few mins.

well, at d moment i dun thk it is mandatory for d drivers to call passengers or automated phone reminders once they arrive. (hope i m right). mayb taxi companies can RECOMMEND to drivers but it need not be compulsory? i thk it'll oso improve d overall image of d taxi Co n improve customer svc. afterall custmrs pay d $3.50 booking fee, hence i guess it aint too much to juz expect a phone reminder. for offc workers like us who cant wait to leave offc for home in d fastest possible time, we r very unlikely to sabo d drivers with NO SHOW. But i cant speak d same for those who book a cab for other purposes n MIA lah.

Hi Anonymous,

Yes, the system will auto call the passenger once the booking reaches 0min, this can only be done once. In regards to receiving sms, this is done on the initiative by the driver and is not implemented by taxi companies. This is an added service provided by the cabby themselves and provided that they have the passenger mobile number.

In contrast, I normally send out the follwing sms to my passengers:

"Thank you for choosing ComfortDelGro. Your Taxi SHXXXXT has arrive at your pickup location. Have a pleasant trip. Msg from TaxiUncle.com"

And I had received positive feedback from my passengers that this is better then getting automated call from the system.

Nevertheless, we do hope you are satisfied with the answers to your questions and thanks for visting our taxi driver network, TaxiUncle.com.

Regards,
CamryLimo

Bro Camry,
That's a very good idea u had there. Alamak.... u should have shared with us earlier.
I propose it to be used as a standard practice by STC members.
It's not only an added service to customers but also to promote STC at the same time. Members, what's your opinion on this???

Kenna another aeroplane from pax at 12 Woodland Link,
cab arrived on time,
and after exceeding allocated time frame,

I call her on mobile then she act blur,
and said she already on another cab liao...

Miss Toh ! contact # 9424XXX9

can you spare a thought for the drivers on the road.
where are your basic courtesy?
at least call back control and ask the operator to cancel the job,
since you have already got your ride.

and it's cases like these that give bad name to honest and dignified pax~

sign----
just another cabby whose day almost got ruined by a irresponsible pax,
but still came out top !
