I am disappointed by the behaviour of not one, but two, Comfort taxi drivers.
On Tuesday, between 9.10pm and 9.20pm, my parents tried to flag down a taxi in Tampines Street 11, to take my sister to hospital.
They encountered two inconsiderate drivers consecutively.
Both drivers stopped but drove off immediately upon seeing my sick sister.
We flagged down the first cab, SHA 3331, at 9.15pm. The driver stopped for a moment and, upon seeing my sister's condition, drove off immediately.
The driver of the second cab, SHA 6056, which we saw at 9.17pm, refused to pick us up, even though there wasn't any passenger in his vehicle.
My sister was feeling very weak but she did not need to be carried. She was not vomiting and was certainly not creating any fuss.
Furthermore, my parents and sister were going only to Changi General Hospital. How long could the trip have taken? Therefore, it is unacceptable for these two drivers to refuse to pick up my family members.
I understand that the drivers are worried that my sister may dirty their vehicles, but what if the same thing were to happen to their family members? What if a life was lost because of their actions?
My family and I hope to receive explanations.

No reason for 2 cabs refusing to pick up. The woman's condition must be more serious or complicating than what she claimed. Only one side of the story.
STOMPer Veronica was appalled at how this taxi driver treated her and her boyfriend yesterday (Dec 5) when they tried to get on his taxi.
In an email to STOMP today (Dec 6), the annoyed STOMPer says:
¡°My boyfriend and I were trying to hail a cab along Farrer Road (bus stop outside St. Margaret's Sec School) on Dec 5 at 10.50pm.
¡°Along came an 'occupied' city cab, SHC0010K with two passengers and stopped a short distance in front of us. An empty cab came from behind and we decided to hail for the empty cab instead because there was a chance that one of the two passengers in the occupied cab might continue his/her journey after dropping the other passenger off.
¡°Mr Cabby from the empty cab was not going towards the direction we wanted so he left without us.
¡°The two passengers from the 'occupied' cab finally alighted and the blue ¡®available' light turned on so we decided to give it a try. When we were about to hop into the cab, Mr SHC0010K cabby raised his left hand at us angrily and told us off and said, ¡°Why my cab not good enough for you is it?¡¯
¡°He then continued shouting at us for not being 'interested' in his cab in the first place, hence he was not interested to pick us up either.
¡°When my boyfriend confronted him for being rude and making such unnecessary comments, he continued with his uncalled for remarks (as mentioned above).
¡°Only when my boyfriend told Mr SHC0010K cabby that he would report and file a complaint against him did he then try to justify by saying that he was busy and can't pick us up.
¡°Is this what our cab drivers are trained to behave? Is this the so-called good service we should expect from service industry? Do paying passengers/customers have to be at the mercy of such rude behavior?
¡°Will there be any action taken against such rude cabbies? Should these rude cabbies be even allowed on the road?¡± --------------------------------------------000000000-------------------------------------- dun expect the 1st cab know what's the wld-be pax's thinking mah

First, Miss Lim said her parents were taking her sister to hospital, implying she wasn't together with them. Then she said "We flagged down the first cab...", meaning she was with them. Very confusing lei.... Was she there or wasn't she there???

Agreed. Taxi-drivers are not allowed to pick and choose but the commuters must also be taught to not pick and choose.
call an ambulance if u cannot walk and sick.. cabbies also human also will get sick, the cb woman can transfer the sickness to him and he transfer to other paxs and when he reach home he transfer to his family and he sick cannot drive cannot make $$$$$$$ but have to see doctor and pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I feel sorry to hear that there's two cabbies that refuse to take them, it's juz not right. At the same time i wonder did they manage to get a 3rd cab to pick them or did they call for an ambulance? If they manage to get the 3rd cab to send them, why wasn't the cabbie being given his due merit? She and her family expect an explanation, what kind of explanation she expect when she did not give us the whole story? Did a 3rd cab pick them up? Does she remember the cab no. that pick them up? Why didn't she give credit to the 3rd cabbie? If someone is very sick and need medical attention urgently, why try to hail a cab from the street? Why don't call for a cab? Why don't call for an ambulance instead? If these qns are not being answer, what kind of explanation she and her family expect?

I was laughing all the way when i read this. Why? SHC0010K: Seems like the taxi no. from the other side of our world. She and her boyfriend should count themselves lucky liao, cos they will end up 'you know where' if they board the cab.

Sick people also need taxi. It's faster than bloody ambulance. I remember back in 1996 my mother collapsed at home at Jurong East just next to Yuhua CC. I called for an ambulance then followed by a call to Police. Guess what, Police came in 10 minutes and also help to call ambulance from my mother's home. Blood was bleeding from her mouth, therefore CPR is not possible. Ambulance came in 45minutes. By that time, my mother passed away. Guess what ambulance told us. They came from Clementi Fire Station and there was traffic jam. At 5.30pm? Towards the direct of Jurong. WTF kind of excuse is that? But anyway, it's already passed and I didn't pursue the matter. If I had, I am sure heads will roll because from Clementi Fire Station, the journey only require at most 10 minutes not 45 minutes.
bro TDO.. sorry to hear that........... wat i trying to put up is that when comes to no choice then cab is the alternative.. and not all cabbies will do the pick up... sometimes there will be no cab ard when u needs it most, i m sure bros here knows that...
The parents were so preoccupied taking care of the sick girl on the road..........yet could so clearly remember the 2 cabs reg nos. right down to the first 3 alphabets??? Case of a premeditated complaints!
What responsibility?? If you are in my cab, I'm responsible for your trip and comfort. If you aren't, I am not responsible for your well being or mishap just as you are not responsible for my livelihood.
If only this country is a population of entirely GRACIOUS people. But we aren't. No need to complain or blame cab drivers about this and that. Blame the SOCIETY.
