what you mean, i thought all new cars comes with radio accessories.
Maybe the taxi companies extracted out that makes the first user's cabby installed it thus it benefit to those hirers or relief drivers coming their way.
You know driving on the road the whole day without any music or sounds damn boringdriver

Even new cars does not come with Hifi for free, all these have been installed by car importers here and your are paying for it.

from your computation.
for driving 6 hours to maybe 12 hours, if i am a relief, the rental shd be halved right ? like say 5pm- 5am. 12 hours

if $20 per hour x 12 = 240 -52- 40= 148?

is that right? any advice?

seems like this forum is quiet ...is there any other forums i missed out ?

I understand where you are coming from over your concern of securing a steady income. No one can assure you of what you can make and out in the open it would not be nice to put income least you want to the taxman.

You are your own boss and basically beside knowhow, luck...hardwork and being self discipline.

There are already lots of information in other threads which you already provide most of your query, be patient and go through it.

gd initiative to response to newbie...jz wanna add your insights are only assumptions but not far off target tho

you're right that lao chiao cld earn more...it all boils down to experience where to get paxs...having said that i believe daily luck also comes into play...everyday is different from yesterday

you're right to advise newbie not to be too optimistic being a newbie...he better be a relief driver & get the feel on d roads

Bro fairfare,

If an experienced driver becomes a cabbie, is it necessary to start off as relief driver?
BTW, can give some tips as to where to get pax?wink.gif

bro Drive is correct...with pax behind you...even for experienced driver you'll be surprised which route you're suppose to take from pt A to B...or you'll hear from behind "Uncle you're taking me for a tour is it?"

one tip as most cabbies wld say...dun Q where there's no taxi Qing hahasmile.gif

Bro lonewolf, welcome on board.
Do pm me your contact and i'll info you when there's a kopi session.
Fyi, experience of a driver is relative.
A driver who has been driving for the past ten yrs can declare as experience driver tho he/she may be driving to and fro from work only for the past ten yrs.
A driver who has been driving for less than 2 yrs can declare as experience driver also cos he/she had been driving around the island at least 5-6hrs each day since he/she got the license.
A driver who is on the road frequently does help when drive a taxi, but it takes more than that to be a cabbie.

Driving our own car and driving taxi is totally different thing. Driving our own car giving our friend a lift is easy, wrong route and traffic jam no big deal the passenger sure thank you cos he needs not to pay.

From my limited experience, taxi as long as meter starts then pax sitting behind is nervous, every 10 lamp-post distance 20 cents, 20 cents a red light, mid night +50%, peak 35% plus ERP CBD.... if taxi driver go a route not pax expected sure long face or kena scold. Taxi driver is constantly under stress, we ferry people we never met before, we go places we may never there before, combination of roads connection for each trip is different even in our home ground easily make a BIG mistake.

Inexperience causing stress that wipes off map from my brain, common place such as Moulmien/Thomson junction, go Kg Java or Newton or Thomson or Chancery or PIE or Uturn CTE??? Straight, left or right??? All must be defined within 5 to 10 seconds otherwise too late....Jialat.....! How? ASK AND YOU WILL BE GIVEN. Take it easy and relax.

Looks like virgin cabbies have to be mentally prepared for hard knocks on the job.

Only regret is not taking TVL earlier as didnt know that process wud take around 2 to 3 months.
