GPS is good for newbie but you musn't totally rely on it.
Learn how the GPS route calculation works is a must; all roads are tagged with speed limits, "FASTER ROUTE" means using higher speed limit roads but could be much longer; "SHORTEST ROUTE" means involve much more minor roads and worst pax complaints you are circling.

Once you have integrated Sg maps virtually into your brain then will be the best.
One example Garmin Nuvi always go wrong route if you set it to "FASTEST ROUTE":
From Orchard to Sengkang Rivervalle Cres, GPS tells you Orchard Rd->Buyong Rd->CTE->Left on TPE->Punggol Rd->Rivervalle Dr.... It is wrong!!! Simply because route distance not more than certain % it choose highway so fare is more.

Solution:
Orchard to Sengkang, you drive according to your road knowledge... Orchard Rd->Buyong Rd->CTE->Exit AMK Ave5... (subsequent rds you not sure)...keep on driving... the GPS will recalculating the new route for you automatically.... i.e. Buangkok Green->Buangkok Dr->Punggol Rd.. you judge its suggestion, if make sense then follow otherwise ask pax.

Remember GPS is just giving you a SUGGESTION, you shouldn't controlled by it. Don't look at it while driving.

Bro, actually your gps is not wrong, if pax says wants to go faster route, that is really the fastest. I have pax requesting to go by that route......

As for going thru AMK ave 5, this practise is dying out fast, because most pax says that way alot of traffic lights and slower. With the KPE now operational, another better way would be by nicoll, KPE, new sengkang exit, and direct into rivervale cres.

I feel that the AMK Ave 5 way will only be suitable for places that is nearer to hougang and fernvale, and for place that is further like compassvale, rivervale, direct TPE exit punggol will be better. Anyway, the fare doesn't varies much...

haha Mr. Kee, limo pax are different from crown biggrin.gif just kidding.
You are right, go cte->tpe then into sengkang from top, less traffic lights, each red light costs 20cents if pax aware then they know which way should go.

Bro YTD, invest a gps to ease your worries....
heng heng got 1 cum up said to yishun central.. Ha ha ha I lost liao!!!! ------------- Help... Any 1 got cure for mi!!!!!!!!

All masters here have had gone thru such painful process but now they forgotten liao.
I am still a newbie so your problem happens on me initially every trip, now about once a day (then my gps saves me) and I hope it'll gone forever.

Be honest and humble, duno say sorry I really don't know, could you please guide me... etc. 99% pax will treat you very well sometimes got extra tips smile.gif. The most difficult period is the first 3 turns, once wrong then is very difficult to correct and therefore must ASK.

When stop infront of red light, quick quick key in road name into gps then check and memorize roads you need to pass thru. Just remember LANDMARK is more accurate than road names but searching takes time. Also when under flyover GPS never works!!! e.g. VivoCity outside go Depot Rd GPS asks you go straight and exit Alexanda cos it thinks you are on viaduct. Another one is Serangoon viaduct underneath.

Before enter and exit expressway must ASK. Newbie mah, ask no harm. Good luck to you.

Noticed that some here say may be advisable to subscribe to GPS. But I thought some companies already have GPS system in the cab?

the provided gps is not a 'routable' one ,,meaning it does not tell you turn by turn direction to get to your destination.
