I'm an island by myself...just hope to get affirmative answer here...hope i'm not

charging my pax wrongly on the CBD charges. On saturday 8pm at Taka taxis stand

picked up a family of 4 pax. Preset the CBD charges of $3, the princess asked me why

needed to pay CBD charges , never heard of such thing before and all along taking cab

was never asked by the cabby to pay the $3 CBD charges. Asked me when it was

implemented. Family seem to be upset by the charges. I was thinking should i waved it

but further thought it's better to stick to my stand rather than if backtrack it's pointing

to my own mistake. Hence, no choice, end of the trip print out the receipt and let them

decide if they want to go ahead and complaint. Seem that i spoiling their shopping trip.

Bro,

You do get such reaction now and then and this will explain when was the last time pax took a cab..

More important you must know your boundaries and when to charge that xtra $3....

I had a similar incident last week and took me by suprise as well.. the pax boarded from suntec @5pm...first thing they did was they question me how come the meter had $4.05 plus the flag down $3

I exlpained that peak hour just started -$1.05 and $3 city charge applies from here

They started to comment wow like that the ride will cost a bomb and etc.....

At the end of the journey.....potong pasir.... only $12.50 ...thanks for crying out loud...

i kena a pax, she took the chylser. told me she don't know flag down is $5...

honestly, i also don't know.

then she keep saying on this topic. i wonder this premium cab should be going around hdb for pax or not...

Bro Regit, You did the right thing.
Print the receipt and collect the $3.
If you waive the CBD $3,then you will always become the subject of future argument,whenever they board a cab in the city.

1. Refer them to the taxi fares sticker on the windscreen(you should have one stick on it).
2. Politely introduce myself as the registered driver of this taxi.Will print you an official receipt upon arrival at destination.Meantime, I need full concentration to drive you & family to the destination safe and sound. No need to talk more.

Thanks for the kind words and support so at least i know i'm not a cheater. Ever

scolded for being a cheater for unknowingly using the slightly longer route. I got

phobia of going to cbd area during the cbd timing of 5pm to 12am. Got one time i pick

up an old couple at Chinatown point going to SGH A&E on sat. 8pm...me hesistated

and waved the $3 charges. Worried they would jump and kena heart attack bcos of

the charges. Another time was at orchard point also sat. at 11.40pm,

pick up one ah beng, making hell lot of noise scolding somebody CCB on the phone

until i scared to mention cbd charges.confuse.gifheadbang.gif

thank u bro. Regit for sharing your inner feeling........it is sad to see many pax cannot understand taxi drivers plight...if i were u, i wont scared to ask from the ah beng cbd charges......

Bro Regit, it's your right to collect the $3 city surcharge. Don't let a few lousy people intimidate you from collecting your rightful hard earned cash. Be fair but firm, we are honest but not fearful to do what is right.smile.gif

if not your pax kena me one day, will use same tactics hoping i waive off cbd.

Or lagi worst, he might claim i 'cheat' him cuz other TD didn't key in the $3 when he board the cab at chinatown pt...

What you suppose to collect you collect, no need to think or see what kind of pax.
Ang mo in tuxedo, Ah beng with tattoo, mei mei in mini skirt, Ah gua, Ah kong, Ah ma, don care, as long in CBD, $3 is a must.
Pax dono, explain to them politely, whether they happy or not is not your problem.
At the end, $3 MUST COLLECT!!

Must collect that is why nowadays many pax ask for reciepts. Collect and give reciepts no question asked. Unless blu blurr forget.ashamed.gifashamed.gif

Tourist and ppl working inside CBD complains no taxi at night, government encourage TD empty cab goes into CBD... haha TD pay $2 in advance, once got passenger then charge them $3 so wage is $1! Don't forget this $1 is not giving for no reason, if pax going thru CBD centre ERP gantry then extra ERP $1 government takes!

After 8pm dinner & dance and OT still not finished, if no surcharge sure back to square - no cab inside CBD. Don't want to pay better wait outside CBD boundary.

Another cheating case, last sat at 8.30pm picked one thai pros outside hotel 81 at

bencoolen st, one look already know it's WL, scantily dress with half ball exposed.

Anyway all pax are given VIP treatment for taking my cab. Told her about the

surcharge she grumble thai language that i can't understand but can figure out from

the unhappy sound and chicken tone. Reached her destination...Orchard Tower,

Total fare 5.20 plus 3 dollars (surcharge), she do not want to pay the surcharge and

only pay $5.20.

Asked for the $3 she utter No..no...no and walk off.

why tell them about the $3/-surcharge. ? It has been around for so long ..no need to tell them anymore.... Just press K4 to total the fare and show them. If they dont pay nthen Fxxx them $3/- worth.

Next time i will just shut my mouth and not mention anything, when i explain i got myself into hot soup. So it's not wise to be too transparent when money is concern.
