Newbies

Hi to all bros and sis in this forum. I just passed my TDVL last month. Am now waiting to get my Licence. Got a few quests to ask all seniors here.
Currently, i am still working full time. If i want to try to drive part time as a relief during weekends, How shd i go about it?
I passed my licence thru SMRT, and if i want to drive relief as a COMFORT driver, can i? If so, wat are the procedures i shall start?

Thks in advance and hope i am not asking stupid questions.....cos i am very "green" in all these procedures...confuse.gif

Your licence regardless from SMRT or Comfort is issued by LTA and you can drive with any taxi coy. First step to relief driving is to find a hirer, the easiest way is to look around the carparks in the vicinity of your residence. If not then go down to the various taxi coys and register as relief looking for hirer.

Leave a note with the taxi that park in your neighbourhood carpark, state the timing or day you wana drive, interested hirer will contact you.
Alternatively you can post in this forum to look for one too.
You can always register with the coy after you found a taxi to drive.

Also when you register as a relief with comfort/citicab, you will be given a password to access the cabbies portal looking/matching for relief. part-timers and super relief.

Hi, big bros and big sis,

Bythen I'm waiting for my result of my TVL licence, understand it takes about 2 weeks afterthat if I passed another 1 month then can obtain a TVL licence so it comes a total of waiting period- 1 and half months. It was a long wait for a retrenched person like me without any income coming in. siah leh. How to survice somemore there's a secondary school kid to feed leh.
So, while waiting can I proceed to any coy to book for a taxi or sought for a relief seat. Please advise.

No TVL hirers don't want to talk to you. Newbie got TVL many hirers also say no.
Once you gotten TVL if can't find hirer can try pig head bone shift such as 8pm to 4am weekdays and full day sunday, some hirers would give you a try. At least can earn a bit.

Why you want to catch me? biggrin

Most hirers have experience newbie relief only come and generate extra income during hard time and disappeared when they've gotten enough $. Hirer need to go with relief to register (spend 2 hrs), also each hirer has max number of relief so they value their quota and precious time.

At night after peak hr surcharge (8pm) full time OMO will go home so if relief want to earn from 8pm to 5am some hirers will say yes bcos u give him rental + foc car wash may be no need to pay HDB season parking. smile

I consider this shift "pig head bone", simply bcos bite no meat, bite hard teeth break, only 3 hrs may have +ve income... after mid night.... good luck.

BTW, I am biting 3 nites per week super big 猪头骨 (9pm~3am) no choice need $$$

The only thing about driving this shift is that rental is cheap, but avoid driving mon and tues if possible cos after 2am you are better off going home. Fri would be your best nite.
