RE: 2 months already since i last post ..i am still waiting ..

missed yr last lim kopi session. will join yr guys next time.

Went to NTUC to look for hirers matching but no luck as most hirers looking
for relief for weekends only.

Maybe will try leaving leaflets at taxis around my block.

Regards to all.

In Comfort portal there are still some hirers looking for 7-day relief in PR. Walk around carparks near your block you will find many many taxi idle after 8pm onward.

hi guys...
just updating ...i manage to pass my retest today..finally..that makes me happy for a while..
but, on the contrary, when i am on my way home, i honestly saw quite alot of empty cabs plying the roads, on the taxi stands...and i cant help but to think of myself when i am in the ranks...
will i be able to make a living out of this, i begin to wonder...and the day is already bad, how about at night? which i initially decide to drive from 5-5am.wouldnt it be worst?.. did i made the right decision ?
but anyhow, since i decided to do so 2 months ago, i have to do it...just have to bite the bullet, and i hope seniors here can give me some tips and advice when i start driving...i just need to make enough for basics....hope i can do it

anw..back to the story,so what now after i pass the test ? i called LTA and they told me 3-4 weeks for the licence..and i got to wait again...somehow i wonder why such easy chores like a TVL licence course which only takes about 2 weeks can stretch to 3 months, so much for the effciency we are claiming about for our government sector......ahemz...

now i am comtemplating if i should be a relief or a hirer? any insights here ? i call silvercab and was told of their new no contract scheme for hirer...thinking if i should try with them ?

Hi.. Bro GT.. I believe u checked tat one is the Kia Magentis.. The daily rental is about $105.. For a new bird better dun take so expensive cab.. unless u already found a relief driver. Try tis website.. www.cabby.com.sg Quite many TD looking for relief..

ya lor...i think every cabbie has their own way of plying.... probably when we get on the roads..we will be able to have our own schedules and methods...whateva it is, we are just making a honest living, it shouldnt be that hard right, every trade has its pros and cons..
since we decided to go through this, got to take it in our stride...

so you not driving now ? what company you joining ? did you take your course from sMRt too ?

Bros GT & YTD, if have oredi decided to be a cabbie, just go ahead.
Dun worry and think too much. worry.gif.worry.gif
Ya, u may see a lot of empty cabs on the road, both in the day and nite.
But if u r diligent enuff, earning 3 meals a day and a little extra shouldn't be a problem.hungry.gif..beer.gif
My advise to newbies is to start off as a relief-driver 1st.
Not only to gain on-the-road experiences but more importantly to see if
u r really cut-out to be a taxi-driver.
Pls note that driving a taxi is a lot a lot different from driving ur own car.
There are many many many factors involved which may require a MRT-long page to fill.
Whether u r on-the-road oredi or not, try to join us for our kopi meet-ups.
U will be able to gain a lot more insights about taxi-driving as all STC bros
here will be more than happy to share.
One last question: how do u get to know about this forum?
Cheers.smile.smile

bro GT

congrats for passing the test...dun worry about going on the road...everyone has to take the first step...just like in corporate world each one need to take each step to climb the copr ladder

but hey...once you're on that wheel...you're your own boss...hack care if you start late...every morning I see poor paxs rushing to work or will kena scolding from boss haha

cheers
