Recently I was q-ing at the temporary Geylang Serai market taxi stand and I saw some very 'malas' communters.
The taxi satnds were just located opposite the market next to the Singpost building, just after the traffic lights. There were many taxi q-ing there. What I saw was commuters waving for taxis, oblivious to the fact that there was a queue of taxi just right across the street. They only have to cross the traffic light and all the taci are waiting for them right there. No. They just want to call taxi in the bus lane. To make matter worst, there are taxis that stop for them. In my opinion, tarffic police should also book commuters who are too 'malas' as well as inconsiderate. If they said they have too much things to carry, I don't think that is an excuse at all. If they can carry out of the market, what is a few more steps? They are just simply too 'malas'.
TAXI UNCLES: If you can help it, please do not stop for them. Otherwise, you risk the chance of being booked stopping in bus lane there.
i was thinking, since the white shirt are there with a camera, theyshould take down the pic and then... PROCEED TO THE ALIGHTING PAX, and book them too.
bcos taxi stand is just opposite...it's an offence to pick pax if TS is within 100m
most old forks will not dare to cross the heavy traffic road to the TS...LTA is so nice to put TS opposite the market & let old people dash across the road to TS

taxistand rule very confusing. CDB taxi stand N the old taxistand rule what different ? 100m fm TS cannot pick up!
I know CDB TS rule is Mon-Sat until 10pm. Normal TS rule island wide 24hrs?? not sure! I notice after 10 pm, lots of taxi Q forming up.
One RQ bus stop taxi Q .. is double yellow lines .. Opposite the road is the Hong Leong Bldg Taxi Stand also long taxi Q..this case bus stop rule also apply...definitely less than 100m
Clark Quay Q until the bridge sometime up to Central bus stop. Double yellow lines, yellow box ,bus stop N also exceed the number taxi allowed for that TS.
Night spots n food outlets. e.g 25 Shenton way, Orchard Cineleisure.
Traffic police n LTA warden also don't bother. Sometimes they helps to control the traffic. If they say cannot Q don't Q. Once in the evening about 9pm at Centre Point TS, after dropping off pax infront of the Q n about to move off.LTA warden ask me to pick up pax. There was a Q of 4 taxis.
In my opinion....what I learns from the army...use ur own initiative, do anything you like but don't get caught.
Any member can enlightened us???
Ps I still green n drive on weekend night not very sure.
