Below incident is copy from car forum......

Hi All,

Just last saturday, i encountered a road rage by a Merc cab driver. Below is what happen....

Went to Sentosa Tanjong Bench with my wife, was behind this Merc Prestige Cab. While in the open carpark towards the dead end where you have to do a U pin turn, this cabby stop his vehicle right at the turn. At that time of point, a lot of cars, including mine is waiting for him to align his passengers.

Waited more than 5 mins, passenger haven't finish paying/unloading their stuffs. Feeling a bit pissed off, i got off my car, went up to the cab and tell the cabby off ... below is the conversation;

ME: Uncle, if you want to alight your passenger, can you move a bit to the front next time.. its blocking all the cars behind..
Cabby: WHAT? i come here first, my passenger want to align here, what can i do? what you want?
ME: Uncle, if your passengers want to alight, you can always move forward a bit. Just 2 metre forward and its okay already
Cabby: I don't want to move. I come here first. You don't know the rule issit? so what you want to do to me huh? GO AWAY LA!!
ME (feeling pissed off): no wonder taxis got such a bad name. its all bcoz of idiots like you guys!! IDIOT!

So i straight away turn back and walk towards my car. As i reach my car with my left hand holding my car door, the cabby kick the door and the door slammed real hard against the car frame, with my fingers in between.

Enduring the pain, i open the car door to release my fingers. Before i can say anything, the cabby start swearing at me, cursing me. I asked him why he kick my door? he say i spat at him... at that point, i really blur!!!

My wife came down the car and called the police. Seriously wanted to punch him on his face but i hold back. Just when i am aruging with him, the passengers whom have alight from his cab just now walk up to my wife and offered to be the witness as he saw the whole thing.

To cut short the story, my finger is working fine now and X-ray shows that my bones are okay. The cabby was arrested and locked up by the police and i have called SMRT to inform them of this incident.

So now, the IO for the case is waiting to see if i want to go ahead and charge that fella for road rage and if he is charged, most likely he will be sentence to a yr jail.

My wife keep telling me to let that guy off coz that guy told the police he is a bankrupt and is divorced. I wanted to let him go too as life in Singapore is already very hard. Moreover, with a prison background, its very hard to find other jobs but all my friends tell me NOT TO.

I ask the IO to ask the cabby to pay me $700 for my car door (the top edge corner of the door is a bit dented out and now can hear wind blowing noise) and my injury but the cabby doesn't want to pay.

This merc cabby is getting himself into trouble. As a cabby when irritated must be careful of the words used and action done. Any wrong word used legal action can be taken against you and if physical action done to the other party the law will come back to haunt you. There are many idiotdriver aroundthat trying to nail down taxis driver.

Just one word to describe this kuku cabby... brainless and totally no patience. so simple.. just move abit and forget about the issue. both party will be happy and completely a win win situation. sad sad sad. another nasty cabby putting good cabbies in bad reputation.

The above is just a side of the storey, the "victim" side.
I'm not trying to protect anyone here, just trying to figure out what cause the cabbie to react tat way, it just doesn't make sense.
Something must have really press his button to make him react in tat manner.
So in my opinion, strictly my thoughts, the guy is not telling the whole truth cos I don believe that those are the only words he spoke to the cabby.
Ask yourself my comrades, how many times you encounter ppl trying to push your button?
How many idiots trying to put their rage on you?
I still consider myself new to this trade, need to learn how to control my emotion more.
In this case, I learn that no matter what happen, never lift a finger on the other party, cos once you do that, it's a red card for you.
Remember what happen to Zinedine Zidane during the World Cup when he head on Materazzi chest?
Ppl do stupid things, but mostly not stupid by nature, it's the ppl that makes other ppl do stupid things.
Keep the faith and keep ur head bros!

As regards what the stomper said about the location/position where the cabby stopped his taxi,
I believe everyone here also ever come across situations like this and this is one of the things
that fellow taxi-drivers do that also pissed me off.
Sometimes I wonder why some of our fellow cabbies don't ever use their common sense at all.
If u need to alight pax, at least try to stop the vehicle where it won't cause any obstructions,
something so simple yet a lot of our fellow cabbies couldn't do.
Like bro bluenuts, I too suspect that the stomper must have said something vulgar or maybe
insulted the cabby's parentage that made him lost his temper.

yup... like BN said how many car drivers r nice to cabbies? do u think a pissed off driver waiting at the back for 5 mins will go talk nicely to the cabby? MM is also rite.. the cabby shd have moved forward auto la when he see that he had blocked so many cars behind. common sense la.. his pax pissed him off cos he cant get a good fare or his day taking not enuff yet? paxs gives u a living and DONT owes u a living.. and u work hard to give yrself a good living.. if u think u dont like the pax that flagging yr cab, dont stop to pick lor. once u pick dont be unhappy abt it..
everyday i want to reach home safe with $$$biggrinbiggrinand i sleep very well as the day had pass and i had no worries abt yesterday events, itsover.. i had no worries that authorities and enforcement will callme to verify passed days events. cos i am anormal cabby

Apparently there are many people with short fuse.

Story one sided. Strange stomper "walk up to the cab and tell the cabby off". Passengers took more than 5 mins to pay n unload.
No mentioning of car horn. Car horn not working?confuse.gif Usually a gentle tap on the horn will do. Did he gave a long and fierce blast that triggered the cabby?.To me leaving ur car means, want to pickup a fight.

Always keep cool we are otr to bring $$$ home not to quarrel or fight. Some time is difficult.

Words of wisdom! Salute!
Now I am experiencing it smile.gif, I only need $$$ and good sleep, the moment I lock the door I know that I will have a good sleep soon. I will not fear anything because I don't speed, never argue, always polite, and.... always receive extra tips which is more than sufficient covering my food, drinks and cigarette.

Is this guy having bionic fingers?
His door top edge corner is dented out and his fingers are ok???
How he arrived at the amount of $700???
What injury is he claiming when he himself says that his fingers are ok???

Yes I agreed with BN and the other bros here that the cabby is at fault by doing what he has done... But please look at the other side of the story first...

Is the above a seizable offence when there was no physical contact or weapon used. Why was the cabby arrested then ?

Just read it as just another urban tales.... I don't think it is a seizable offence. The police will just ask you to take up the case yourself thru the magistrate....
