Final i want to ask some questions from you,you said you used the GPS,are you referring to the MDT GPS or Mobile Phone GPS,so i guess a pax boarded you cab with the location you key in the road name without moving, will the pax complaint you are using the GPS and delay their time, because pax always expected you to know every road,SORRY for asking this question,i might have to use the GPS as well.

TheMDT GPS is a crappy system, no routing at all.

I have similiar questions on GPS too. Notonly delaying pax time when keying inthe destn details,i supposesomeimpatient taxi drivers behind might horn u for not taking off soon enough after pax board ur cab. Looking at the GPS for guidance is dangerous but turning on the voice guidance might be annoying. I have readsome other post that even using GPS, they end up with the wrongroute and still need to refer back to good old street directory.

I hope AceKangand otherbros using GPS can sharetheir experience and pain as well in usingGPS as i would like to know if it is a good investment.I am now driving w/o GPS but using street directory.

It is good to use when both u and the pax dunno the way. The only part when it got confused is when travelling near expressway, it would think u are on the expressway and not on the main roads, it is quite accurate for small roads, ulu roads, the more ulu the better. Good for converting building names to see which roads....a bad habit that the GPS like to take weird roads and go zig zag here and there, where we normally would stick to one MAIN ROAD and do a final L or R turn to destination.

Even i use it when pax direct me, i see if they directed me correctly.....there is few occasion pax said go straight but suddenly ask me go Left , i anticipated it since GPS show me it should be a left turn.

In my case, i would say it benefits me being a total newbie to most roads....

1st Call booking.

As i wasnt familiar on the roads, i always set to Scheme B, i gotta keep pressing No to reject as the calls keep coming to me, call system will set ur mdt to busy, so that will stop them directing calls to u. I found out this recently when a TU lived nearby me explained to me.

Busy-calls wont be directed to u, but rooftop status is TAXI,pax will still flag.
Break-Rooftop=busy, pax would still flag but understand it was indicate busy.
Change shift-Rooftop status display change shift and location if mark *.
For hire-accepting all call bookings and for TAXI status on rooftop.
Once u pressed OP on taximeter, rooftop status changed to HIRED.

Been rejecting calls but one morning i call a call nearby my area, i was in scheme B but call still assigned to me, it was 0652h. I decided to give it a try since it was near. Set GPS to track sims drive. Managed to find Mrs Tan. Got my first sucessful booking. Did the same thing, greet and ask route, at first i was worried i dunno way how....but pax know way and willing to direct....i wonder how i should react if i met a pax that expected alot since they are paying extra for the service, they would want a know-everything driver to serve them...i dont wish to give company a bad name so meanwhile i still reject till i am able to get more road experience.

2x Call cancelled - do not proceed.

Mr Raja - LRT Yew Tee....pressed 10min but managed to reach there early around 5mins.....press call on mdt, call out successful....then suddenly received-call cancelled, do not proceed.

Mr Lim - NTU staff apartment blk 34 ....pressed 10min, didnt expect NTU very big....couldnt find the place, at the 10min, i was near, call pax hp, but got hung up. Then followed by mdt - call cancelled - do not proceed.

Some other calls....still in scheme B....but calls still come to me.
I was dropping pax at Science park 1, then got call booking came in, science park 2....not too sure where it is...pressed NO. Later when i drived out....i saw the road sign....Science park 2....so close yet so far.

Just drop a pax at cashew road.....then going back home....turned to expressway...Call booking from Cashew road pop up....no fate...lol

Call bookings can increase your earnings, but better be very familiar on the roads, coz anytime ur call can get hijack and that make ur mood for the day bad. My first successful call booking was actually the 3rd booking i accepted. Although pax waited at near main road to carpark, she honored her call, must be a regular.

MRT/LRT/Bus stops/Main roads area, very common area, easily can see cab all over, high chance of hijack.....u can give it a shot but dont put too much hope, anyway if no pax also gotta cruise...or wait at Taxi stands...worth a try....

Dont let a No Show affect you.....if u can call pax wee hours to pee, they can call ur taxi booking during the day and No Show, tit for tact! Cool down, just live with in and forget the matter, dont bear grudges, u'll be more happy.

hahaha....it's ok. many newbies make this same mistake.

if u r on BKE approaching chkpt, keep left, u will come to a traffic juction.

turn right at the 2nd traffic lights junction, keep left and turn left after the

pedestrain crossing lights. u will see the taxi-stand there.

acekang,Thanks for the advices & tips

> entering T1 Arrival.........
now i know must aim right

scratch my head....since the pax didn't want to go by PIE,but if i assume the pax does allow partial PIE route(i.e pass-by changi south ave 3)then filter out to TPE - CTE - braddell road - Toa Payoh will it be ok??? Perhaps any Shifus here care to share your expertise with us & lead the ways?

> 1st time to Woodland check point.......drive directly into the checkpoint.
This is my phobia too, after exit BKE,there're so many paths to choose,me sure karang kapoh one ,but can make a U-turn still not that bad, hopefully don't kanna F by the custom Officer will be happy liao lol, another phobia one is mentioned By Hirer "Tuas check point" ........sweat sia !!!

30sep-22 pax

Woke up about 10am then going to collect ang bao...

About to turn out to main road, got flag by auntie, going to hougang st 21....ask go by which way, she say upper aljunied road, i wanted to take the U turn to upper paya leba road but she said upper aljunied road, then i do as she told and about to turn to lor 22 towards aljunied road but she said not here, the turn is further ahead....so i proceed to next junction and make the right turn, ahead of me only choice left is to take KJE-Paya Lebar, meanwhile she keep chatting and chat liked an old friend. Then we reach the junction near hougang st 21, the fare is already 8. I missed the turn and turn right after Kovan mrt and back to hougang st 21. Then the fare is 9. I said 8 will do. But she only willing to pay 7, saying normally she only pay 7. 1st pax met a cheapo. She gave me wrong directions still want big discount.

Reached sin ming collect ang bao $10 , just as wat i expected....but the condom...auntie keep....he might think i took =(

I was in Scheme B (Passive on booking)
About to end the day.....almost reach home, exiting sims way from PIE, got a booking $3.50 Casuarina Cove at Tg Rhu road....pressed 10mins and managed to reach send pax to clementi ave 3....

Then heading towards home....along commonwealth ave , then got booking at NUH, Lower Kent Ridge road....found the place early but went wrong way.....press the MAP on mdt, can see the line and arrow got closer.....next time booking use this function will be easier.
Pax guided the way back to Jurong west.....

Initially, i thought pax would expect alot when they do booking, all 3 i gotten so far, are nice and would guide the path or let me go my way......perhaps havent met nasty ones....Booking seems fun, u gotta arrive the place within 3/5/7/10 mins....

After 3 successful bookings, my confidence level had increased, i suppose i can start taking booking now...Going to scheme A soon.....The 1st Cheapo today make me change my mindset, street hails, u tend to meet cheapo more often.....but cheapo can be anywhere to spoil ur mood.

After that last booking, heading home from Jurong west, took PIE....see GPS 20km to kallang/sims way exit.....saw Upper bk timah exit, go there to explore road while way back home, once i exit, got flag by pax....and pax going Geylang 40.....so nice just happened got a free trip home, fare is 12 bonus. Pax are 1 man and 2 china woman....stopped infront of a nightspot...

Recently also fetch few thai girl, perfume same.....also got thai guy as pax on diff ocassion, all go Golden Mile....so that is where thai gathered....

2 girl Geylang lor 13 go lor 37....during the journey, one of the girl head pop from center and wanna talk to me, i said busy need to focus on road....their voice got special training, very seductive...reaching lor 37, no entry sign, i ask wanna stop here, u can walk in, girl say dont wanna walk, so i make U-turn and and enter lor 37, its only like 10 steps away from the no entry sign......another ocassion along guillemard road, 2 girl going joo chiat road....big breast , 3/4 exposed..nose bleed....
