STOMPer Steve was stopping at a red light along Eunos Road at about 10am today (Oct 24)

when he saw a traffic warden riding without a helmet. The STOMPer said the warden was riding

on his motorcycle without his helmet on before stopping at the traffic light junction.
Said the STOMPer: "Saw this traffic warden on the road without a helmet at Eunos Road."

LTA: Traffic wardens not above the law

We thank Ms Wendy Yuen for her feedback ("Traffic wardens must act fairly and consistently"; last Sunday).

When our enforcement officers are off-duty, they are required to comply with the same parking regulations as all other motorists.

On occasion, on-duty enforcement officers need to stop their motorcycles at no-parking locations, without obstructing traffic, to take enforcement action.

With regard to Ms Yuen's comment on the illegally parked car at a T-junction, when our enforcement officers checked the site, no car was present.

Should it occur again, Ms Yuen can call our 1800-CALL LTA line so that we can follow up on it.

Certis Cisco: Errant officer has been disciplined

On 1st November, TR Emeritus (TRE) published an article relating how a reader, Mr Visakan Veerasamy, spotted Certis Cisco performing a ¡®wayang show¡¯

(¡®Ever seen a wayang show performed by our CISCO?¡®).

A Certis Cisco vehicle had parked precariously along Upper East Coast Road. Mr Veerasamy¡¯s brother then called the police which asked him to call LTA instead.

Later that night, his brother returned and noticed that the Certis Cisco vehicle had reversed a little. He was surprised to see a traffic summons on the windscreen of the vehicle.

However, on closer look, it was actually a blank piece of summons ticket stuck on the windscreen of the vehicle (see photo)!

Mr Veerasamy wrote, ¡°Aiyoyo! Nothing on the slip! Wayang only! Now I¡¯m curious C are all Cisco officers allowed to have this kind of wayang summons?

Is this a one-off case, or is there a system of I-scratch-your-back-you-scratch-mine?¡± TRE then wrote to Certis Cisco for comments. They didn¡¯t reply to

TRE but told the Straits Times that the officer involved has been disciplined for leaving a blank parking ticket on one of his company¡¯s own vehicles.

However Certis Cisco did not elaborate on the disciplinary action taken against the errant officer.

A spokesman for Certis Cisco said, ¡°We would like to clarify that Certis Cisco officers are not above the law.¡±

A job posting in Malaysia street for auxiliary police officer

Certis Cisco is subcontracted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to issue parking tickets islandwide.

It is believed that a number of their staff are recruited off the streets of Malaysia (¡®Auxiliary police officer recruited off Malaysia¡¯s streets¡®).

The spokesman said that the officer had assumed that the vehicle was on official duty. Mr Veerasamy asked, ¡°I would like to know what exactly

the protocol is here. If they have to pay a fine, where does the money come from, and where does it go? I¡¯m curious, mostly, and a little amused.¡±

Certis Cisco¡¯s assistant vice-president of corporate communications Karyn Low said, ¡°Anyone found guilty of flouting traffic rules will be subject to

the same enforcement actions.¡± ¡°We thank the blogger for bringing this matter to our attention, and we will take this opportunity to share this

incident with our staff to prevent a recurrence.¡±
