A car was found stuck headfirst in a hole along Keppel Road towards Harbourfront early Wednesday morning. The police said that

they received a call at at 6.27am requesting assistance between Cantonment Road and Cantonment Link. The car was subsequently

STOMPer Gary saw this car which had fallen into a sinkhole along Keppel Road at about 7.30am today (Jan 30).

He said there was no one in the car.

Said the STOMPer:

"This car fell into a sinkhole along Keppel Road near the PSA Building towards Telok Blangah Road.

"I was walking past the area at about 7.30am today when I saw this. Water was gushing out from below the road.

"I heard on the radio that this had caused a jam from Shenton Way all the way to Keppel Road.

"From what I saw, I don't think there was anyone inside the car."

STOMPer Mitsueki, who also sent in a picture of the incident, said:

"This morning, there was an epic jam over at Keppel Road.

"From the picture, it appears to be a sinkhole, but I¡¯m not too sure.

"Well, I feel sorry for this guy man, because I think it¡¯s bye bye car."

PUB has confirmed that a pipe had leaked at the site.

It said in a media statement:

"PUB received a report at 6.35am today of a pipe leak at Keppel Road (junction of Cantonment Link) and activated our officers immediately to site.

"The leak on a 700 mm diameter main was isolated at about 9.30am.

"To facilitate repair works, vehicular traffic at the section of Keppel Road (between Cantonment Link and Cantonment Road) towards the direction of Harbourfront has been diverted to a parallel slip road since 9.00am. At 5pm today, PUB has opened up two of the four lanes to vehicular traffic (Lanes 1 and 4). The other two lanes (Lanes 2 & 3) will remain closed to facilitate repair works.

"The incident does not affect the supply of water to buildings in the vicinity.

"Repair works are in progress and are expected to be completed tomorrow evening (Thursday, 31 Jan).
