i think the admins are trying to make sure all the members are really active taxi driver.
plz give them some times to fix their operation management system. :)
Thank you Rom for putting things in perspective. I shall add my 2 cents worth.
Junior Lex, I empathise if you felt aggrieved. There's a reason for the vigilance. Despite the rules for joining clearly spelt out in my first post, we constantly
have newcomers who clearly don't belong. Colourful characters lurk in cyberspace. Let me illustrate: We had someone with a personal vendetta against
taxi drivers. He launched a tirade n was kicked before long. We know paxs/motorists are not exactly fans of cabbies but the channel is the wrong avenue. Another non
TD came and asked for pasar malam (police road blocks) info. We won't facilitate drunk drivers on the road. I'm sure you second that. These are only 2 examples.
Alex had uncovered many non cabbies. One managed to sneak in. He decided to gloat about his success in beating the system via PM to his friend. In his blunder,
he sent the incriminating PM to ALEX instead!!!!!! Lol !!!
Being new, I understand if you didn't foresee this. As I said earlier, nothing is cast in stone. Just a means to an end. Like Rom, I urged you to call Raymond.
@ Lex: Once again, I apologise on behalf of our admins if there is any misunderstanding going on. As James has stated, TU Palringo channel is open to all genuine TD, we welcome any one who is willing to share and we definitely do not mean any harm to anyone.
@ davkou: Once you have got your taxi to drive, be it as a hirer, relief or just weekend drivers, we'll welcome you on board. To prove you are a OTR TD, it's either meet any of our admins during our break time or just take a picture of your MDT as stated earlier.
I'm sorry if I'm being too naggy but due to the recent open up to public for the channel, there are some so call weird & funny unknown people joining but not being active at all and any other reasons. This is why we need such measures to let our members to stay in the channel in a comfortable manner, under a friendly & peaceful environment. James will update the first post of this thread for the requirement & method of downloading the old version of Palringo, so that members do not need to search through the whole thread.
Once again, I need to empathize that for new members here from the forum joining the group, please join the Palringo using back the same nick as in this forum, so that James and me are able to recognize you. Also, please add the taxi number behind your nickname. After the admins, not expecting all but at least some of us, are more familiar with you, you can then change to your more preferred nick or even use your own name (like what I did). All the best to you all and hope to see you on the road soon ^_^
Davkou, I tried.. No luck maybe need to look at the setting.. Cos I was trying to use google map whil having the parlingo on too.. Cannot receive infor frm parlingo
I m using sony xperia v and am able to use parlingo and google map at the same time, with parlingo in the background. Dont ask me how, sorry. Just telling you its possible.
Okay, somehow I just felt I needed to join in the fray. I feel sorry that new members (especially Junior Lex) are facing difficulty in obtaining recognition from the Admins. Actually it is a simple matter, but due to unfamiliarity, it has been blown out of proportion. Still, there is a need to weed out undesirable characters.
To identify yourself as a bona fide Taxi driver, the Admins need some form of verification. One way is to meet up with them. As I'm not an Admin, I cannot do that. The alternative is to show some credentials. There is actually a very simple way out. Simply log on to your MDT and press the taximeter at the start of your shift. Your MDT then shows a street job. There you have it ! Simply snap a pic and the problem is over. Oila ! (There's no need to wait for a passenger to get on board. If you need the daily log to reflect your day's activity accurately, then reset the MDT after that.)
As for Parlingo, so far, the only way to talk is to press the Voice icon. Of course you will need a Phone holder positioned in such a way that facilitates easy access. Once you get used to it, it's not such a difficult juggling act. Of course safety is uppermost, so do it only when you feel it is safe to do so - like on a straight road or at the trafffic lights.
Good luck to you Junior Lex, Daykou, Niteowl and other newcomers. Have a pleasant stay and hope we can put all the unpleasantness behind us.

Hi Chiku,
thanks. Sorry today at the Zoo I was not able to reply your message coz I just got my first Pax, so do not know whether is it alright to talk while driving. I believe I saw you taxi at the end of the Q.

Yes chiku, all android are able to do such multi-task. iphone is kinda a hassle for palringo. Quite a few seniors members had changed to android due to such reason.
Greetings to all... I will be taking the 4 tests this coming Friday and if passed, then most probably I will be a relief driver. I think that this app is very helpful and I truly appreciate it. I've DL the app and playing with it to get a feel of it. Currently as I'm not driving, I am not able to contribute much. But as I'm still driving my own private vehicle, would I be able to contribute?
