1. How much is the camera and does it include installation? The usual retail price is $425. We are now offering at $375 nett with 16GB SD card including installation. 2. How long is the Warranty period? The Janus HD camera and SD card come with 12 months warranty from the date of installation. However, the warranty is Void if the original Janus SD card is replaced with any other unauthorized SD card. 3. Where can I buy the LTA approved Janus HD camera for my taxi? You can buy the LTA approved Janus HD camera at SPARK Car CareTM Centres located at Braddell, Sin Ming, Pandan and Loyang. 4. How long will the installation take? The standard installation will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour. 5. Will I get my rental reimbursement when my taxi is down in the workshop for Janus HD camera installation? No. There is no rental reimbursement when your taxi is down at SPARK Car CareTM workshop for Janus HD camera installation. 6. Will I be given the software to download the video footage? No. LTA imposes strict control on the accessibility to the video footage for the protection of passenger privacy. Only ComfortDelGro Engineering Pte Ltd (CDGE) has the software to download the video footage. For some Citycab taxis that are maintained at STK, a copy of the software will be made available to STK. 7. Can I use my own SD card to upgrade to higher capacity memory? No. If you remove the Janus SD card and install your own SD card, the Janus HD camera is configured to automatically re-format your own SD card and you will not be able to view the video footage. Only our software is able to download the video footage. You are advised to purchase Janus SD card from CDGE to enjoy the 12 months warranty. You may also want to take note that you may damage the camera and warranty will be void if you install your own SD card in Janus HD camera. 8. What is the recording time the current Janus SD card? Under VGA mode, 30fps 16GB--11~47hrs 32GB--22~95hrs 9. Can I buy the LTA approved Janus HD camera for other taxi company¡¯s driver? No. The Janus HD camera is only approved by LTA to be installed on Comfort and Citycab taxis. Other taxi companies are not allowed to install the Janus HD camera. FAQ on Janus HD Camera 10. If I resign and return my taxi to CTPL/CCPL, do I need to pay for the removal of Janus HD camera? Will I be given the software to download the video footage? Yes. You need to pay $45 to CDGE for removing the Janus HD camera. We will re-format the Janus SD card and extend the software for your access to the video footage. 11. I have installed my own camera. Can I trade-in my current one for Janus HD camera? No. We do not trade in with your current unapproved camera. 12. If I change my current taxi to another taxi (or new taxi) and the camera needs to be removed and re-installed to my other taxi (or new taxi), do I need to pay for the cost of transferring the camera? As a goodwill, you do not need to pay CDGE for relocating your Janus HD camera if you change to another taxi (or new taxi). 13. How do I know my Janus HD camera is working? The blue/red LED indicators on the camera will alert you that it is working. If the blue LED is flashing, it means that GPS is communicating. If the red LED is stable on, it means recording. 14. What is the duration of recording in the event of accident? Once there is an impact, it triggers an event to be recorded. A 20 second video clip containing 5 to 10 seconds of the pre-impact footage and 5 to 10 seconds of the postimpact footage will be saved inside the SD card. 15. How would I know that the accident footage will not be over-written in the Janus SD card? Janus HD camera has an inbuilt function whereby it separates the normal driving footage from the accident footage. Scenes recorded from daily driving will be directed to the Driving Folder and upon impact, the accident footage will be saved into the Events Folder. All other normal driving footage recorded after the accident will be redirected to the Driving Folder, leaving the crucial evidence untouched. 16. Am I able to activate recording when there is no impact on my car? For instance if I wish to provide video evidence for any public misconduct that I witness while driving. Yes, you can. Just press the ¡°Emergency Button¡± located at the back of Janus HD camera and a 20 second footage will be saved into the Events Folder. 17. How accurate is the Date and Time of the video footage recorded by Janus HD camera? The date/time recording is synchronized by the internal GPS receiver. Once the SD card is preset to the Singapore region, it will be synchronized at local time. 18. In the event of accident, where can I download the video footage to show the circumstances of the accident? In the event of accident, you must report at CDGE Loyang within 24 hours or the next working day after the accident. The video footage will be downloaded when you make your accident report. If your taxi is maintained by STK, you are required to go to STK to make the accident report. 19. Will I be given a copy of the video footage? If the video footage is related to the circumstance of accident, you may have a copy of the video footage. Other than that, the company has the sole discretion to decide if you need to have a copy of the video footage that is not related to the circumstance of accident. 20. Where should I report if my camera is faulty or not functioning? You can go to any of the 4 SPARK Car CareTM centres (Braddell, Sin Ming, Loyang and Pandan) for trouble-shooting if your camera is faulty within the Warranty period. 21. If I want to view the Video footage of my camera, where can I go? If you need to view the Video footage of your camera in the event of any traffic dispute/accident reports, you should go to Loyang Taxi Accident Reporting Centre to request the Customer Care Specialist to download the Video footage from your SD card. 22. I¡¯m a relief driver, can I buy Janus camera and install it in the taxi? Yes, you can but you must seek consent from your hirer. A form (provided by CDGE) is required to seek this understanding. 23. Can I install other brands of camera in my taxi? No. As taxi is a public transport, LTA is concern of public complaints of intruding privacy, thus the camera must be approved by them.
I am just curious...there are many kinds of Car Cameras in the market place with better configurations at lower costs, why LTA only specify on particular Brand for CDG or Citicab? This sounds like a monopoly to me....any one care to enlighten me?
