So much noise over the term "PIANG" !

I have been in the Parlingo channel for a few months and noticed all kinds of personalities.

However, at this point I just want to mention a weird obsession with the use of the term Piang. There are some who are so particular and even sensitive about it. I can understand because it affects the non-regular cabdrivers the most. (Non-regular meaning drivers of Chrysler, Merc, Gim Gu, London, Maxicab, Vellfire)

It is weird because some will define it as 100 pax while others stick to a standard 50. They get all worked up because sometimes they rush there and are disappointed when the pax have all dried up.

To avoid any finger-pointing, I will usually make myself clear from the beginning.

eg. I will say : 1 piang = 50 pax. So members, Day Zoo Piang Piang.

Let's have your feedback on the word PIANG.

IMO, beside the number of pax, the number of taxi within your visual at the point of time is also important.
sometimes, everything is over after 10 mins even if is piang piang. :)

Haven't got chance to go zoo.
Is zoo usually crowded with pax on weekend?

be it 1 piang is 50 pax or 100 pax.. is really base on visual estimation. What TU shared is true.. 10mins can dry up.. my experience was with MBS T3, i made a report based on what i see.. suddenly there was a flux of pax coming down after an event. And i was 3rd or 4th taxi.. suddenly i was no1.. and there were still like 30++ pax in sight and less then 4 taxis behind me

I made a update on mbs t3 situation.. it was already passed midnite, my pax sent me to Park Royal @ pickering. I remembered 1 member thank me for the infor. I completed my job in 10mins.. and ask abt MBS T3, if it is still good to try.. but i felt bad.. one member reported that. MBS T3 dry up.. yes.. is only that 10mins... felt but that the member was not able to pick up any pax from MBS t3 and also surprised that in 10mins all pax gone..

like most seniors shared.. Sg Taxi drivers very efficient one..

I would say, is really based on individual judgement where he/she would want to make the decision to rush over to the so called 'piang' location

Sensitive people need to be addressed

Thanks Niteowl. It's true what TU and you said about the volatility of the situation.

However, we all know that one of the main reasons for joining in any channel is for getting info; and of course we also do our bit in return for the favour. It's important that info given out be as accurate as possible. As such, we should dish out good and reliable info. Nobody knows what's going to happen in the next few minutes. It would be good if the next person who passes by provides the latest update on the situation.

Having said that, there are no guarantees. We take the feedback as is. We assess the info and place our bets. When we arrive, we may or may not be lucky. But whatever it is, all info given is appreciated.

I mentioned the non-regular taxis for a special reason. Because they are the ones most affected. If it is a piang scene, then limos would also rush in and join the party. They know that few would reject them if there is a shortage of taxis. So they are most likely to be disappointed when piang becomes loose.

I brought up this topic because some people are really very sensitive about it. What say you ?

Guys, always bear in mind that what is the meaning of "info sharing" & the purpose of being in the Palringo. It is to share information & situation at the point of time when you are there. Be it 10 mins or even 2 mins later, it can be a whole new chapter. Please do not let such comments affect you too much and feel discourage. Info being shared out can only be taken as a guide. You don't force anyone into doing anything. It's purely up to our own decision to make, whether to proceed or not. UNLESS I'm just 1 taxi behind you, you reported 100 pax no taxi, & at the same time I only see 20 pax with 5 taxi Q-ing, that's a total different story. Other than that, just do what you think is right.

Replying to the topic, "piang" to me is 50 pax or more with no taxi in Q at the moment. If others think other wise, too bad. If there are members who takes it too seriously all the time, just change to " more than 50 pax, png". End of story.

As much as ROM felt that we should stick to calling it "more than 50 pax, png"....I am afraid that the story does not end here because many will continue to call PIANG as and when they like it.

So, in my opinion, the END of STORY is.....no need to define PIANG....afterall you cannot be very accurate in counting number of passengers once it exceeds 50.

Thus, the END of STORY will be - up to you to define PIANG or how many PIANGS you want to call and up to other members to interpret the situation whether he wants or does not want to use the information to rush down. If anyone still wants to impose the number on members using PIANG, I am afraid he will just have to settle for disappointment and finally give up his request.....LOL!!!!

Your comments seem to be filled with much history behind it. Hahaha such is human nature, it never really dies off. New people start the cycle all over again. Maybe it's a maturing process ? I'm sure TU understands it well.
