RE: acekang's blog

Sometimes i got call booking, but while i was checking the map where it is, after 1 min, the booking is cancelled. I would wondered what happened....is it becoz my taxi is not moving, the call center cancel or pax cancel? Then soon after i received call booking again, again it was cancelled within 1 min......I got the feeling i was being played out, but soon after i got call booking again, this time the call was honored. So, the call center prolly will give u priority for call booking after u gotten cancelled calls or No Show, as a form of compensation for ur time loss.

Smiliar things happened today around 1500h, i got a call to go Samsung Hub, when i was at Shenton Way, when about to reach, call cancelled.....then soon after got call booking, E17 Taxi Stand - One Raffles Quay, Full Day Bus Lane, i was considering to turn inside to check but decided to check out the Bus stop since it was indicated Full Day Bus Lane, then didnt see signs of pax, then make a turn into Taxi Stand inside of One Raffles Quay. Found the pax, guess where they going? DBS Tower 2. Fare 3.20+2.50=5.70 Sometimes i wondered why take taxi when it was only 2 bus stops away.....not complaining, just puzzled...

Anyone saw this "Full Day Bus Lane" description while taking calls, its misleading?

29 Oct ard 2200h, was at Selegie Rd, received call booking, Sim Lim Square, Rochor Canal Rd Taxi Stand, Full Day Bus Lane....so i was thinking whether to enter the CBD area, but realise Rochor Canal Rd is outside the CBD zone, found the taxi stand, alot of pax, but no Taxi. That is the spot where no CBD surcharge! Is that the reason no taxi there lol....

Got a pax took my taxi from Outram MRT going to Lim Teck Kim Rd during ERP hrs, when about to turn to Lim TecK Kim Rd, pax says stop at the bus stop infront.....i moved further until i was somewhere near a carpark entrance and the yellow box...the ERP was $2 if go in.
I dont like the feeling.....asked me to stop at bus stop when there was a bus right behind me.

What would u do if pax suddenly asked u to stop at the Bus stop along Cantonment Rd, near Lim Teck Kim Rd?

When you sign up with CDG they assure you'll have estimated 3 bookings per day. Right?
Play play type, 2 bookings cancelled within seconds + 1 booking $5.7 still 3 bookings per day smile.gif

Unless you know how to.... otherwise you'll never gotten booking during peak+CBD from hotel to airport. You'll only receive pig-head-bone job.

I normally at night, cancelled booking alert came in even though I didn't receive any job offer. Sigh, poor tricks.

Got pax flag ard 31oct Sat 1230h at Chelsea Lodge, Tg Katong Rd, girl and boy got up, say East coast rd,siglap,Upper East coast rd, they are in a hurry....i was quite confused where exactly they wanted to go and asked if they would direct me where to go, but was not answered. Pressed the meter and proceeded straight, was thinking of making the U-turn at the petrol kiosk ahead, girl suddenly asked : If u dunno way, we will get out......I let them alighted at the bus stop opposite the petrol kiosk. Fare $3.00 , stopped the meter and they got off, didnt expect them to pay. The girl say this before she alighted : Fyi, u gotta make a U-turn back. Maybe i'll get complained.....

Question:Is there any possible way to make a U-turn before the petrol kiosk, with traffic condition some cars and bus behind u?

I feel uneasy when i hear pax say in a hurry, i hate to be rushed.....if i get pax in a hurry, i would request them to direct me where to go, usually good pax are most willing to. Some pax dunno way, allowed me to use GPS, its fine too. But some pax in a hurry, know way and dont wish to direct way.....i am not fortunate to earn their money.....

Previously i got a pax, got up from NUS near Clementi Rd, going to Bedok, assured me she will direct me the way once we got to bedok, she mentioned she was in a hurry.....agreed on going by ECP, upon approaching bedok exit, i didnt asked if she wanna exit this, as she was on the phone, and eventually exit by Bayshore, took a right turn and entered bedok rd, she mentioned going to a church, so when reach a church along bedok rd, she says this is not the one. She called her friend and asked NUS to bedok, does she have to pay up to $20 Fcuking dollars? She say she going to bedok and now landed near Tanah merah....after that she hung up and direct me where to go.....She yelled : Are u trying to make money out of it by going the wrong way? Finally told to stop at a bus-stop along bedok north ave 1. I stopped the meter, Fare $20.60 and printed the receipt, then she say pay by nets, i asked u got cash, she say only got $17. And i just accepted $17. She slammed my door hard and left.

Remember one of the post at the newspaper section, got a guy recorded the part time taxi driver who dunno the way....remember what he said? He say he will direct the way, but ended up go and take a short nap and landed somewhere else......why promise something when u dont live up to ur promise then complain?

Bro, pls don't let these types of pax demoralised you. If they say they are in a hurry and wants to go go faster,
just reply :Okay, I'll try my best." You increase the speed only if it is absolutely safe to do so.
As regards those who said they will give directions, let me relate one of my experiences.
This man, ard 50 yrs, took my taxi at Jur East St 32 and wanted to go to Ang Mo Kio.
When I asked him which part of AMK, he replied, "Just go lah..later I'll tell you."
When we reached end of Lornie Road, he kept quiet. I asked him whether to go by Upp Thomson Rd
or Marymount Rd. He said Marymount. When we reached end of Marymount Rd, he again kept quiet.
I asked him which way now, AMK Ave1, left/right or straight Ave 6. He said go straight.
By now, i was getting quite toolan liao. B4 the juction with Ave 3, again he kept quiet.
I asked again which way, he said go straight. Now, my patience had run-out liao.
Right after the junction of Ave6/Ave 3, I stopped by the side, opp the mosque, and told him
"This is ANG MO KIO ."
He said this is not where he wanted to go and I replied, "Brother, when you boarded my taxi
and I asked you which part of AMK, you said you will direct me but up till now, you have
not directed me once, where exactly do you want to go?" Then he said Street 61.
KNNCCB.... if he had said it when he boarded my taxi, things will so much different.
Sometimes, these paxs just don't understand that it will be so much easier for us to drive
if we know he exact place they wish to go.

Bro Ace, if you look up at the junction of Cantonment Rd and Lim Teck Kim Rd, you'll see a 'NO STOPPING' sign. Should you stop for the pax? Who is going to pay for the fine if you happen to get a ticket for commiting the offence? Surely not the pax, right?

31 oct 1705h, got flag along geylang rd, pax going to bedok reservoir rd(Kaki), went PIE-Eunos link>Bedok Reservoir Rd>Eunos Vista Villa. It began to drizzle....then got a call booking, says 103 bedok reservoir rd, drove out to the main rd back to bedok reservoir rd and press mdt map....its actually at the same carpark where i drop off the earlier pax, make a U-turn back and got pax going to takashimaya, took PIE from Jalan Eunos to CTE City, exit Cairnhill circle>Grange rd>orchard turn....Along the way saw many traffic police, and the rain is getting heavy.

After alighting pax, unable to join the taxi queue as i wasnt in a good position at takashimaya and there were like 10 taxi queueing, drove out of taka and went to wisma astria taxi stand, no taxis there, over 10 pax, at the same time got a call booking Sg Power Bldg, didnt accept as the heavy traffic and weather condition makes it rather hard to reach even in 10mins. It was raining very heavily, pax going to Compassvale, girl and boy...told to go by CTE-AMK Ave 5>Buangkok Green, directions given by pax. The rain was SUPER HEAVY that visibility is near zero......was travelling along CTE with a speed of 30km/hr, turned to wiper speed to max but still having poor visibility....After turning into AMK A5 towards Buangkok Green, suddenly a BIG SPLASH created by other car beside me, hitting on my whole front windscreen, i got a big fright and yelled "Ahhhhhhh"! And my pax burst out into laughters lol.....

Reached compassvale, turned out of carpark, along the road, saw 2 girl with umbrella flagging, entered my taxi, and a guy popped out of nowhere and entered, prolly crossed the road from other side. They going to bukit batok....it was still raining heavily, took TPE>SLE>BKE>KJE>Brickland Rd(directed by pax),pax then say going to Blk 88 Hillbrooks @ Hillview ave, they also dunno where so told to follow GPS Bt Batok West A5>Bt Batok East A5>Bt Batok East A2>Hillview Ave....one of the guy pax saw hillview ave and he took charge and asked me to turn into the off rd on the left(Blk 120s-154s), my GPS indicated it was further up along the main road, as he cannot find blk 88....i told him it was supposed to be on the main road and requested to U-turn out the main rd. Soon after we reached Hillbrooks.

After exiting Hillbrooks, along Hillview Ave, a plump man flag at bus stop, he said nearby , turned into hume ave,Symphony Hts Condo, fare $4.05, he had no money on him, so i waited at the lobby, at the same time a plump lady was at the lobby, asked if she could take my taxi, i said ok, but gotta wait the guy to pay $4. At this moment while the lady was waiting in my cab, i got call booking - Hume Pk II-Hume Ave, i pressed the meter on....after few mins later, got a philipino came to me, prolly the maid of the plump guy, says paying the taxi fare for the "FAT" guy.....he called his master FAT lol....accepted the $10 and give $6 change, by the time we going to set off, the meter is already over $5 including peak hr sc...lady pax going to The Bencoolen, Upper Bt Timah Rd>Dunearn Rd>Bt Timah Rd>Sungei Rd>Bencoolen St. At the junction entering bencoolen st, ERP time shows 7:59pm.....eaten $1 ERP at the last min....Fare $17.75 , give discount 75 cents for the waiting time....

Then got a pax got up going novotel, he put luggage into boot, press meter 2000h start...no extra $1.05....Bencoolen St>Brash Basah Rd>North Bridge Rd>North Canal Rd>River Valley Rd>Tan Tye Pl>Novotel , ang moh pax looked at his map and told me to go by Bencoolen st>Brash Basah Rd>Victoria St>Hill St....when i heard hill st, i told him cannot turn right to river valley rd....GPS asked me to take Fort Canning Rd>Clemencea ave>River Valley rd(ERP)....seems a good way but i was learning how to get around the city area without going thru additional ERP. By right, it was after 8pm, so the GPS route should be quite feasible considering the ERP hrs are over. Super jammed at Clarke Quay area, it jumped over $1 waiting time just at Tan Tye Pl....pax wanted to get off, suddenly the traffic move, and i stopped pax at Novotel.

Hotel Attendant asked me to open boot for a JP pax going to Changi Airport....River Valley Rd>Clemencea Ave>Havelock Rd>Upp Pickering st>Church St>Finlayson green>Marina Blvd>ECP changi....along the way i recalled he didnt tell me which Terminal, so i asked which terminal....he say Japanese Airline....i also dunno which, i on the light and he browse thru some documents, and found out it is T1-Jap Airlines....Upon reaching Changi Airport somewhere near the part where PIE joined-ECP, saw T1 need taxi on the LED display. Joined the queue and waited....the queue was extended to the main road....Some taxis that was waiting on one of the bend nearest to the Taxi queue was waiting for their chance to join up. Suddenly the queue move, and 3-4 taxis managed to cut queue of over 10 taxis along the main road and joined up the queue. Then came another Limo taxi, putting his hazard lights on, wanted to join the queue, but eventually over 5 private cars stacked up at the bend, he been waving to them to overtake from the left, just then another taxi took the other lane, so 2 taxi choking up the bend.....finally that 2 taxi drove off to elsewhere...Initially i thought "T1 need Taxi" was good info, but it was 50mins waiting time.....slightly better than usual wait, but not impressing.....queue are moving but not fantastic.

T1 only allowed up to 6 taxis for pax....as the arrival entrance is quite far, if asking pax to walk to lot 10.....T2 seems to be quite good on traffic control, have about 16 lots in use, separated into 2 section, that time i was told to go, i thought ......after queueing for more than 1hr, i was told to leave.....later found out T2 got 2 Taxi Stands....BT has only 3-4 lots for use......T3 not too sure....T3 and Budget Terminal have small canteen, can buy food and drinks. There was once in T3, saw a guy carrying lots of kopi/tea and snacks, to the taxi queue, providing special service to sell his stuffs.

Got pax reached changi airport, fare 20.60, she give me $31....the notes are new and so she could have taken extra to me, so i handed over $10 to her. She was puzzled...i told my friends about it and they say its $10 tips....some ppl got too much money, $10 is nothing to them....i think not, coz if wanna tips, she wouldnt have given $21, 40cents is tips...

One day ard 0130h at Sultan plaza, saw a guy staggered a few steps....dont look drunk but seems to be giddy....walking towards my taxi ,got into my taxi and going to Admiralty Drive, go CTE>SLE>BKE>Woodlands Ave 12...during the way, he tilted his butt and let out gas with a loud noise, i inhaled the stale air and immediate wind down my windows to clear the stench, he did not say anything....upon reaching fare 26.40 , he gave me $60(6 x $10 notes , all new, stick together) , i returned the extra $30 + $3.60 change....he said sorry when i handed him over the change....i wondered is it for the "Fart"....lol....

Recently read about one of the post about a Sengkang Malay guy take taxi but never pay for it......and happen one day a malay guy 25+ ard Sengkang flagged my taxi, he asked, uncle can u help me? , he asked if i could drop him at Compass point and wait for him while he deposit money...As i have read about how a sengkang malay boy ran away without paying, i looked thru my rear view mirror and try to remember his looks.......upon reaching compassvale, he went to the atm which i can see from the drop off point, i waited and eventually he came back and got in, go to Peace Centre,Selegie Rd...I was thinking of using the central lock to lock the door so he cannot leave without paying, but decide to wait and see how it goes and not judge a person too early...when we are about to reach, i unbuckle my belt, getting ready to chase after him if he intends to run away without paying!!! Fare $17 as i stopped the meter, he handed me $20, and give him $3 change....What a false alarm......Another time i passed by Sengkang again, this malay guy took my taxi again, i remembered him as his perfume smell is the same, not too sure if he remembered me....this time he go Sultan Plaza, reached ard 0120h....he got a call, he reply he at 7-11.....I think he is the 1st pax that took my taxi the 2nd time....

Ard 1300h was travelling ard Woodlands Ave 12, about to go CTE/SLE, wanted to go Mandai
Zoo take a look, but suddenly got a call booking, Woodlands Inustrial Estate, 22 Woodlands Link Rd,goto level 3(#03-44). Pressed 7mins and start heading there.....Initally i thought the booking would be within 2km radius.....but it took me more than that, and i barely reached the area in 7mins, had difficulties finding the way to go up to level 3, went a big round and eventually found the path way up.....then saw 1-50s @ Level 3, took that path and started counting from 1,2,3....along the path, there are several obstacles along the path, the place is like a multi-storey carpark but have shops along the way, some car and "Danger" road signs along the way, obstructing my path, and also there is a big lorry and van blocking my entire path....by the time -7mins on MDT, i was late for 7mins, Call center called me, and asked, i said i was at #03-22 now, almost reaching but lorry blocked my way.....the lorry moved eventually, then i am able to move ahead....then suddenly received message, Call cancelled, do not proceed.......sianz....

Continue to cruise around woodlands road, at the junction where Champions way is on my left, received a call booking again, used GPS to search for Champions way and found it.....Initially i didnt realise it was just on my left, and i already passed the slip road to it, so i continued to drive straight and make a U-turn back....into Champions Way. Got the pax, and going to National Sailing Centre(East coast park service rd). Pax say go by SLE>TPE>ECP....fare 23.40....woot!

Sometimes after u got a no show/cancelled job, call center usually would try to make it up to u.....this is what i feel, not sure if u thinks the same.......
