I supposed such mistakes are quite common....and it should had happened to any TUs ever.

What would you do to ensure pax location is the same as what you thought?

Such mistakes are common among new cab drivers, but no excuse for experienced drivers to get the destinations wrong.

Make it a point to repeat what the pax said.

"Kent Ridge Road near Bouna Vista ? "
"Cambridge Road in Peh Kio ?"
"Lokyang in Jurong ?"
"Loyang in Changi ?"
"Petir Road in Bukit Panjang ?"
"Petain Road in Keng Jio Kar ?"

Don't just keep quiet and drive off after pax tell you destination !

Imagine yourself as a pax telling the cab driver "Pasir Ris Drive 12"
Driver keep quiet and just drive you to Pasir Ris Street 12.
Thatwas what happened to me, more than once.angered.gif

Open your mouth lah....ask n confirm... every trip!yawn

Agree with bro donsan: Open your mouth!
Make it a habit to repeat the destination with a nearby location/landmark.
Also turn and look at pax, nowadays, a lot of paxs are listening to the mp3 players and
they might not know u were asking them because they DIDN'T hear u.

Got a pax around Yishun area, she told me she is lost and cannot find the place. Yishun st 21 Blk 278. Drove towards Yishun St 21 and cannot find Blk 278. Checked Street Directory and found Blk 278 is at Yishun St 22. Asked pax, is it at Yishun St 22, pax says no, she showed me the sms the owner of the house stated Yishun St 21 Blk 278. In addition, she mentioned UOB Blk 291 and near a church. When she saw the church when i passed by Yishun St 22, she knew it was the correct place. Drove into the carpark and found Blk 278. She thanked me for finding the place and apologise for giving the wrong information.

Question : Is Blk 278 really part of Yishun St 21, according to what the owner of the house said?

Night Encounters

Boy flagged my taxi around upper changi rd east @ 0130h, got up and asked me to go blk 808 tampines ave 4. Along the way, boy make phone calls, seems like he was in some form of difficulties. Eventually requested by pax, stopped near a overhead bridge along tampines ave 1, approaching temasek polytechnic. Stopped meter, fare was 9.00. Boy said he got no money on him. Told him he could pay by nets, but he dont have it either. Boy was using his hp to call someone, he left his belongings in my taxi. Then another boy came into sight, both of them crossed half of the road, and handed money over to the boy who took my taxi. Boy give me a 50 dollar note, and i handed him over the change. He thanked me profusely.

Was waiting at Yew Tee MRT taxi stand @ 0230h, then 3man got into my taxi, said Lim Chu Kang Rd. I said ok. Along the way, they are speaking a language I cannot understand. I got an uneasy feeling and realised Lim Chu Kang Rd is a remote area. I got worried that something might happen to me. My fears faded away as one of the guy directed me the way he wanted to go. It is prolly they are heading to their work place that explains why he is familiar with the roads. Eventually we reached Lim Chu Kang Rd. Saw another taxi heading the same direction which is infront of me. Our destination was just 1 block distance away from each other. After my pax alight and paid for the fare, I am glad I was safe. I drove to check out the other taxi to see if he is safe as well. His pax alighted as well, and he begin to drive out of the area. As I am not familiar with the area, I followed him all the way and landed around Jalan Boon Lay, and we went different directions after that.

It's most probably the 3 guys were going back home after a night out.
Many foreign workers live-in in their workplaces in LCK.
In situations like this, if u felt unsafe, pretend(or really oso can) to make a call to someone
saying where u are going to and arrange to meet-up for kopi later.
This is to purposely let the paxs know that there's someone out there who knows where u r.

It was Saturday 2130h, 4 pax, 2 man, 2 woman about 30+ got into my taxi around Choa Chu Kang going to Suntec City. They chatted along the way. Somehow one of the topic is about not having enough sleep. One of girl related her encounter with her boss.

Boss called her in the morning while she was sleeping, she woked up and answered the phone.

Girl : Hello.
Boss : Did I woke you up? Are you sleeping?
Girl : I was sleeping when you called.
Boss : Then I'll call back again in the afternoon.

Traffic condition got worse approaching scotts road towards orchard rd. The traffic jam was so bad that the vehicles barely move an inch every few mins. Pax are getting irritated and comtemplating to alight. Looking around me, I can see other pax alighting from other taxis in the midst of the traffic jam and left the poor taxi drivers to bear the consequences of the jam. My pax did discussed about leaving, but eventually they stayed on, soon after crossing Buyong rd along Orchard rd, the traffic got smoother. Finally reached Suntec City. Fare 24.60, when the pax pay for the fare, he commented, it was a fare as if he went to the airport lol.

good idea.

every CDG cab comes with a panick button below the cab's driver.
anyone here has activatedit or tried it b4?

i've tried it b4 but it seems that it doesn't work for me. all those
time i tried was when my vehicle is not in service, maybe the system
is set to be able to recognise and works when only the meter is activated.
but if is true, than what happen if the robbery knows this and he
rob us only after we stop the meter?no

I tried it when i am not plying. It is working. But not too easy to activate it.....gotta press it twice (more than 1 sec, less than 10 sec).Walkie talkie would be more reliable if robbery happens, at least your comrades can call CDG to find out your location and provide assistance.

I doubt there is such a service....there are far too many taxis on the road and going to off roads locations. It is more feasible to have walkie talkie function like the HK taxis we see in drama biggrinbut dunno sg like dont have.

Join the STC walkie talkie grpto look out for one another! smile

Was cruising along orchard rd just past midnite, saw the super long queue at taxi stands, over 20 taxis. Then ard 0010h, got a call booking, Vision Crest, Oxley Rise Main Road. Pressed 7mins and headed over. Reached earlier than expected and press arrived. When i reached i saw another empty taxi outside Vision Crest, but he drove off soon after i came. While waiting i have seen several empty taxi passing by Oxley Rise Main Road every minute.
The call button from mdt pop up and i pressed it. Call unsuccessful. Called the pax thru hp 82004684 0021h, but got hang up. Waited for No Show to pop up, pressed No Show and left.

Usually if i got call booking, I am willing to wait till pax appear, but for this case....I rather not wait as it seems i have fallen prey to a possible prank call or the pax had gotten a street hail taxi passing by, I think some of these calls are made to deliberately make TUs wasted trip. Wasted about 20mins on this call booking.

Then got lucky and got a pax along Somerset Rd, going to Four Seasons Hotel, short trip, fare $5.10 , pax give $5 and trying to dig out 10cents, i said its fine.

Call center compensation plan - I really appreciated the call booking they given to make up for a No Show. Indeed, got a call booking Ministry of Foreign Affairs,Sherwood Rd, Enter from Minden rd off Napier Rd. Pressed 5mins and arrived there early, the main gate was closed. The barrier to the side opened, it was a driveway and i waited there. I had not waited in vain. Pax came into my vision from the darkness thru the guardpost. She is going to Condo , Upp Serangoon View. Gave clear directions, Cluny Rd>PIE Stevens>Upp Serangoon exit. She directed me to Davley rd to go Stevens Rd. I asked name of condo, she said is Upp Serangoon View. Used GPS cannot find this condo....she mentioned it is past Hougang Plaza, so used GPS to use that as a reference. Drove past Hougang Plaza and eventually turn right to a road "Upp Serangoon View" which i had initally thought it was a name of a condo. Upon reaching, i saw the condo name, Rio Vista. Fare 20.50 , pax give 50 note, given back 30 change and said its fine. Pax digged out few coins for me eventhough i offered 50 cents discount. The feeling of meeting good pax really make me feel better.

After dropping that pax, luck hasnt been good, i cruised 2hrs without getting any pax, and went home to rest.

On another ocassion past midnite, around 0130h, i waited at Yew Tee MRT after dropping a pax near Choa Chu Kang area, there was no other taxi queueing so i thought the next pax would be mine. About 0145h, another taxi came to queue behind me. Then 5mins later, a man walked towards the taxi stand. He walked passed my taxi and took the taxi behind. I saw the TU behind beckon the pax over to his taxi claiming his taxi is cheaper!!! In hawker centres, we usually see signs : No Touting allowed. What this TU had did was just like what hawkers used to tout the customers to drink/eat from their stalls. I wasn't happy that the TU resort to gimmicks to get pax. It seems to be a different way of operating when it is past midnite.

I had also seen several taxi queueing along Geylang Rd, near Lor 40 a pub. Pax didnt take the first taxi but chose the taxi in the middle of the queue.

Question : Is there any rules/regulation to get pax after midnite?

It works definitely. No matter vehicle is moving or stop also can.

2 long press with 2 sec pause in between, u'll receive phone call to confirm, if call is ignore/no answer then a booking confirmation fly in notify u, no need to response. At this point senior staff/manager will be leading this case in control centre liase with police immediately. The taxi's exact location is located and tracked by GPS, accuracy less than 20m! Therefore don't go underneath flyover nor go into area surrounded by high buildings, drive at moderate speed let GPS tracking optimized. I really want to see police special op come.... bang bang bang ,,,, robber d...i...e.... clap.gifclap.gifclap.gif

I ever think if possible I would lock all doors let say when climbing over a hump, later on quietly open my own, hahaha when police came.... I open and run..... hahaha let them taste the bullets!!!
