TAXI FARE CHEATS - BEWARE

Quoted from the SINGAPORE Statutes :

Chapter 259B of the PUBLIC TRANSPORT COUNCIL ACT

Section 24D - don't think you can just run away from the TAXI
without

paying. Better Think again.

EXTRACT :

PUBLIC TRANSPORT COUNCIL ACT

(CHAPTER 259B)

Failure to pay taxi fare

24D. Any person who, having made use of a taxi service and without reasonable excuse, fails or refuses to pay the fare as indicated on the taximeter shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,000 and, in the case of a second or subsequent offence, to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.biggrin

When we reached eunos he told me 2 wait awhile as he needto give some money 2 his mom. I waited 4 10mins thananuncle knock my window & ask if he can take d cab. So I immediately deleted d fare sum $11.00 & take the new pax. this happen around 2.30pm.

Hi kaikai, sorry to hear that and worse still in broad daylight this malay guy

did it to you.

From feedback farecheats are usually operating in the night.

I must vouch for the Malay community - they make the best taxi customers. Maybe
just this 1 odd ball - sway lor.

My experience came from 1 ang moh - can't imagine right? I pursue the case all
the way to the British High Comm.

Anyway don't be too trusting and be mentally alert if another scenario arises -
my advice is either he leave his handphone behind or some cash deposit.

Nope I dun agree . I am Javanese taxi driver and find them not to be different from any pax . Look out for Malay pax who thinks they own the taxis. Nowadays pax are all the same . We have to be alert at all times. Abt the malay man from Sk to Eunos . I have taken him before in the afternoon from Sengkang.. He is dark skin and his hair is curly. He is stout and wears tight jeans . Watch out for this mother ****er . Till today he is still not caught since i fetch him in June 2008 .

I'm not racist, me chinese driver, malay pax thumb up. Most are very polite and patient. Never recall any bad incident. As for cab cheater sometimes it's very impolite to ask the pax to leave something behind and get his errand done, provided they are automatic to leave something behind themself. Had a recent case, this guy is a philipino, reached his place the fare is $15 dollars say want to carry his shopping item to his flat and ask me to wait. Waited for around 5 minutes and during this time was wondering whether will i be seeing him again, luckily he came down and ask me to proceed to another nearby shopping centre.

fails or refuses to pay the fare as indicated on the taximeter-that means even paying 10cent less....will also be guilty?

So those cheapo who always claimed their normal trip fare is $10, and throw u $10 and left with the "take it or leave it" attitude......also will get fine, then not paying and run is more worth it....since paying 10cents less is also the same offence aww

Ok, for this pax that always took free ride from sengkang......one day, finally a taxi uncle decided to chase after him, and managed to catch him, then he offer topay double the taxi fare to let the matter go, would u let him go?
Whatwould u doif u caught him?
